Was looking at spatial’s new model, and then saw this https://spatialeurope.de/
Spatial but not spatial? A bit confused lol

Ohhhh, yesss so very confused. I like what I see though, especially since I now know for a fact how well these things can perform especially when you mix and match the right pieces together to maximize system synergy and power. Interesting

I knew Clayton’s health had declined, poor fellow, I hope he survives whatever has ailed him. It’s good fortune he was at least able to sell/pass off the business rather than just shut doors down. I’m actually pretty excited to know Don Sachs is designing an amp too for them. I like his stuff… :pinched_fingers:

I might try to take a drive into their shop next week if i get time. Would love to hear their new products in their demo room. Clayton is an awesome guy but I have never heard of Sachs.

Amongst some of us, low power, high sensitivity dweebs he is well known

Hi all, very interested in purchasing a pair of Spatial X3s which i can get second hand for a great price. However i’m not ready to commit to a new amp for these just yet, so Im wondering if my trusty Riviera AIC-10 amp can power them well. It’s rated at 10W/8 ohm but i heard that’s very conservative and it can output more. Do you guys think it could drive the X3s?

Thanks

Just seeing this post now, Yes, you are within power range and that amplifier should allow you at worst moderate listening volume with superb dynamic range and control :pinched_fingers: Very nice, congratulations :hugs:

From the creator of spatial apparently this is his last speaker before retirement.

Those are beauties for sure!

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, on open-baffle speakers the room and treatment has to be spot on since their is no enclosure?

You have to pull them out quite far into the room.

Thank you, I recently re-arranged my speaker set up because the room was not conducive for any speakers without serious room correction. Now I have them on the short wall so that I have a wall flanking each side of them. Downside is now the back is wall of windows, next step is to get some heavy blackout curtains to counter the windows.

I am definitely intrigued by open baffle as I understand they are efficient off low watt tube amps, and sure there are other options in a more traditional enclosures, yet something about this design is appealing.

@tdx4 did you get your speakers yet and pair them with the Riviera AIC? I’m chomping at the bit to get your impressions of both.
I want to believe that this combination will work extremely well together and have really nice synergy :person_shrugging:

Early morning workload consisted of moving all speakers except the Spatial Audio M4 Triode Masters out of the way and then taking time to find positions that worked best for me in the room.

By ear and “MK-1 eyeball“, wound up at 72” from the rear wall, 8’3” from the side walls and backed up my listening chair to 14’ which coincidentally put my head at an 8’3” triangle from each speaker…Interesting how the numbers seem to line-up despite the fact that I was using my ears and NOT the laser levels upon initial positioning  (all final adjustments to the exact inch were done w/ tape-measure and laser but my ears put my head +/- just a few inches of the final numbers which was awesome, (I’m getting much better @ positioning in my space just by experiencing what works best over the years):muscle:

I took on the extra work this AM because I’m starting to get serious about my next pair of speakers :gem: and because I want to give the borrowed MOJO Mystique X DAC a workout on a good AES/BNC connection to satisfy my own curiosity (@Souldriver , as promised) :+1:

I have had a chance to listen to 3 variations of Clayton Shaws speakers to include his newest and I am a huge fan, I’m very tempted to purchase the M3 variety of the Triode Master w/ the 15” driver and call it done for a good long while, it’s 2 or so db more efficient than my M4’s and I find the design more pleasing to my ear than most other designs BUT as always other cool speakers such as the Pure Audio Project open baffles, various single driver units like Lowther, Voxativ, Cube etc. and all sorts of horn designs, especially some of the larger units  still wet my taste buds.

The M4 Triode Masters please me greatly, they are pretty much a perfect speaker for my music and listening tastes. They play well with most of my amplifier and front end combinations and i simply find their sound character most enjoyable. I’m not sure why i want to add another speaker to my hoard  i very much enjoy these and seem to keep comparing all others to what these do. Other than the desire to experience different varieties and styles of speakers I’m finding myself very satiated w/ how these ouput

Oh crap, I didn’t know you moved all of the speakers to the same alignment so you don’t have to twist/move your sitting position. Howo’s that working out? You’re > < this close from just moving everything there, your rack and sources etc and then you can use better cables for your RELs speakers since you don’t have to buy 5 meter long variants that you’d have to take out a home equity loan to purchase.

The lighter and smaller speakers i move back and forth between the 2 rooms. The reason i don’t do fancy speaker cables in the big room is because the runs are simply too long and my OCD can’t stand the thought of 24-28ft long cables on the left w/ 12ft runs on the right.

My next biggest issue is that the dedicated outlet for the equipment is over behind the rack and moving an amplifier between the speakers would constitute an extremely long power cable & RCA/XLR run from the DAC. I simply have no desire to take on the cost or effort just to play w/ speaker cables in this room. I like what i have in place and they work really well, especially considering how often i desire to swap speakers.

You definitely did it right by getting your rack to the side. I hope it sounds awesome.
