Singxer DDC thread, SU-1 / SU-2 / SU-6

Just to keep things off topic😄, have you heard the SU-6?

Yes, and it’s pretty great overall, generally a sonic step up while getting a bit more neutral as well. Definitely worthwhile. Specifically I think it corrects the more vagueness and haziness of placement, improves texture and timbre, improves overall balance, better low end detail, and more coherent presentation as well. Slightly more dynamic, easily worth the cost. Only gripe might be I liked the slightly warmer and relaxed nature of the su2 but everything else is a welcome change, and that isn’t fully gone either

No Kitsune treatment for one of those, seems like it would be a good candidate.

Yep. Just the SU-2. The sU-6 KTE would push $1000, so a competitor to the higher end Denafrips DDC’s.

Does the KTE version of the SU-2 get up to near the sonic performance of the SU-6, just with less I/O and functionality?

Couldn’t say, but what you say makes sense.

It gets close, but admittedly the su6 is still ahead technicality wise, although the kte su2 has a more fun signature and still is a step forward from the stock su2

kte su-2 owner here, if there is any questions i’d be glad to answer them  can’t really compare to other units since this is the only ddc i’ve owned so far but i can answer any other questions about the unit itself

Will I hear any benefits getting something like this considering the Spring 3 already has a good USB module (all I use is USB for now)?

Hard to say since i am not familair with the spring 3 but with that said the amber 3 which is what i use with mine has a pretty good amanero usb implementaion as well and I get a very noticible step up going through BNC from the kte su-2. Most notable is a step up in background noise reduction and overall blackness in the stage. I also detect slightly better dynamics and texture to notes with a better sense of placement in the stage.

The spring 3 has I2s right? I feel like i read somewhere that the spring 2 was much improved through use of it’s I2s input

i will piggyback @Towa and say that my Denafrips Iris does pretty much this as well with my La Voce. A for sure noticable step up, especially when paired with good digital cables.

Yup

Cool, thanks to both of your comments.

The lack of a I2S pin out standard is a can of worms I’ve spend a lot of time (unsuccessfully) trying to sort out.

Tim told me no, that the USB on the KTE is better - and the context of the conversation was that I was going to pick up a SU-2 or SU-6. At that time I was suspecting an incompatibility between the Xspdif 2 and the Spring 3, (the delay with PLL locking with any input other than USB), and that I was hoping to use the I2S from DDC to Spring. Again he told me that the USB on the Spring 3 was better :man_shrugging:

I’d agree that for an su2 or xspdif 2 that the spring usb would be better, but I think for a su6 it might be a bit better than the spring usb (if I base it off the Mays usb), but the Holo USB implementation is very good

But I want to be cool and use I2S , lol

I think you did mention that before, I just forgot. Thanks for the info anyway!

Eh screw i2s, aes or spdif over BNC is all I need lol

Eventually I want to grab a DDC and go AES. But I will say that the USB for the 2541 is better than I expected it to be.

Yeah it’s pretty solid imo. How are you liking that so far btw?
