Added curtains and extra plush towels down the insides of each speaker over the weekend. Listening for the first time tonight and the sonic improvement is obvious. Bass is surprisingly deeper and tighter. Microdetails are much more obvious. The stereo image is so much tighter and layers have incredible separation while remaining totally cohesive.

I love this room.

Thanks! It’s such a calming room. And MotP is special for my wife and me. I’m an enormous fan of NIN and she told me before our first date she’s a big fan, too. So I asked, expecting her to say “I love that ‘fuck you like an animal song’” like every other basic person, but she said MotP is her favorite. She loves the crescendos and the chaos. I was blown away and knew I was going to marry her as soon as she said that.

So we have that as a little memento (the live version from And All That Could Have Been with the “All the Pigs, All Lined Up” tag includes at the end).

EDIT: all plants are fake and each of those crates on top of the speakers has 70lbs of weight plates in them

Such a great story, and artwork to memorialize your first date!

I agree

@kerls that is a real good story surrounding the song. Its funny how many stories of “just knowing” when meeting their partners there are. These little tiny things people look back at.

The room is so intriguing looking. It feels like it is welcoming me in.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. It’s such an obnoxious room…12.5’ x 12.5’ with a stupid bay window and then mostly-open walls to the left (leading to the foyer) and behind (leading to the dining room). But the ceiling, wall, and now curtain treatments have done wonders, and Roon DSP has handled the rest.

Very relaxing feel to the room :pinched_fingers:
The added weights  hmmm. I can begin to grasp the concept behind this…if my back agrees you have given me an idea to try :+1:

It made a very noticeable improvement. Bass tightened up immensely, the the image got much sharper with better separation and whatnot. Basically, just removing vibrations. I have some unused pieces of shelving wrapped in plush, black towels between the weights and the speaker, to help spread the weight a bit more and add additional damping.

If your speakers allow it, definitely experiment with putting weights on top. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Great progress there, congrats!

Note: if those lights are on a dimmer switch, get rid of them and get lights with batteries. Dimmers are insanely noisy things when dimming.

Is that the SVT or SVTL? Are you happy with it?

It’s the SVTL. I like it but i guess moving it small amounts so it’s in the exact spot when setting up the room is kind of annoying. Other than that, i like the look and quality of it

I have SVTL coming next week. No way I’ll be able to move it once it’s settled lol, 4 shelves with around 100kg/220lbs of gear on it
