Here is a HP set-up I’m currently enjoying in my small listening room. This is honestly one of the most fun, highly detailed and energetic sounding systems I’ve cobbled together yet. Best front end I’ve ever had on a HP system and thanks to @dB_Cooper we are feeding it via a proper fiber connection which I’m really getting a kick out of finally employing :muscle:

Now you need a diagram.

couldn’t figure out an appropriate thread and this seems like a decent place to ask this question.
What desk do you guys have at home for work? does it hold any of your audio gear?
Thinking of changing things here… bigger desk, maybe getting rid of my rack if possible in some creative way… finding a way to hold 4-5 pairs of headphones, my speakers…

EDIT: recommendations for nice racks or other dedicated furniture also welcome.

Warning, i have a large 6ft wide 4ft deep desk. Don’t do it. You will simply stack more gear and in the end still have NO room to work. Keep the gear off to the side and use wall hangars if you have to for the HP’s. Or even wall shelves. That’s my opinion. :man_shrugging:

I used to keep my gear on top of my work desk when I didn’t have so much stuff, but these days I just keep a rack beside my desk with all the gear on it.

I have the same monoprice rack and hate it. I mean it’s good value and does the trick but it’s ugly and has zero character

Here are ideas…I don’t necessarily recommend all of them though   :grimacing:

I mean, I agree it’s pretty cheap and boring, but it’s just priorities I guess. I’m thinking about getting one more headphone, thinking about upgrading my streamer’s power supply, etc, this year and I’d rather put the money there first.

100% agree on that. It’s mostly the desk I want to change here and thought I might as well think of it all together. If I can’t find something I like I’ll keep the rack for sure. It’s great value for the money.

I have a 8ftx2ft butcher block slab that I finished and put on top of two ikea Alex drawers. Makes for a huge spacious desk. Also a lot cheaper to do it yourself than buy one already finished

I have the same Monoprice rack that you hate LOL. I value function over form, so it really doesn’t matter to me what it looks like.

I think there are nicer looking floorstanding racks, but I can’t think of much that will fit on a desk, unless you build your own like @Souldriver.

The thing I like about the Monoprice is how modular it is. I can split into 2 desktop racks, so all my gear is at a convenient height. I have another one that I split into 2 below-desk racks for LPS and power conditioners.

I have a giant Ikea L shaped desk, which again, is more functional than pretty. I can fit my work-related workstation, my personal PC with speakers and my audio gear all on the same desk without feeling cramped.

But back to this point, everything I just wrote has zero value to you.

Well I do have one so that’s partially true lol
Everything on my desk and around it is black and white so I guess I just want to add some color or wood and plants and liven it up

I’ll upload a photo later tonight or tomorrow… it’s a mess at the moment lol

Yeah, that part is definitely pretty neat. I bought three of them and was able to combine them into two taller racks since I needed five shelves for each rack (as opposed to the four that it comes with).
