That’s the plan after I figure out the actual speakers and cables
You’re at the exciting part of the build. Where you get to fine tune it for yourself.
BMR GANG
Damn, waiting for your room treatment I do have some frogs and absorbers in spare
Thought I’d document this here before I change anything major. But this is the first setup I’ve put together where I don’t find it needs any more tweaking or improvements, outside of fully upgrading of course (which I might soon, hopefully). In other words, it is a complete setup to my ears.
the front…
Ignore the hill of cds I’ve yet to rip. lol
The heavy-lifter in all this is the satie dac in the middle. It’s the one piece that absolutely elevated this whole setup and made me think, “so stuff can sound like this, huh.”
To the left of the satie is a pretty solid auralic aries g1 streamer. I’ve had no major connectivity issues and it is super nice that it has wifi so I don’t have to worry about any ethernet cables, switches, etc. Not worth it new imo and ps mod is a must.
To the right of the satie is the allnic hpa-3000gt. It’s a solid amp and I’m grateful m0n’s rec was spot-on. I tube rolled a ton and I think the rca and ge tubes are the only ones worth owning. Stock was good but the aforementioned are better imo. To the right of the amp is a sundara, my “test” hp in case I want to try something risky. lol
All components have isoacoustic pucks on em.
I used to have focal shape 50s placed on the desk but there’s no more room. I’d be sacrificing placement, otherwise. Also, room acoustics is trash and I’m not having any of that.
my personal favorite part, cables!..
Cable organization could use work but I honestly don’t know how else to improve it, besides relocating everything to a rack.
Everything connected to a pp3 w/ an allnic zl3000 pc.
Starting from the streamer…
allnic mu-7r aes (aes out to dac) → fta callisto usb (not being used atm) → supra usb (to connect to an ext drive lol) → allnic zl3000 pc (to streamer) → allnic mu-7r xlr (dac to amp) → allnic zl5000 pc (to dac) → allnic zl5000 pc (to amp)
I’m glad I was able to try out all the allnic cables beforehand. I decided to skip all the way to this tier and I haven’t looked back. I’m a fan of the synergy between all of them.
the closet…
It’s a closet for clothes but screw that… hps take priority lol
This looks so gorgeous. It makes my heart happy
Awesome stuff!
The G1 with PS mod is a very nice streamer, I rarely think of replacing it lol and wifi is a must for me.
I had a chance to AB it with the Node yesterday when I sold the Node locally and the guy wanted to listen to it and to my system and damn it’s not even close. Reassuring moments lol
Love the pictures around back…very good looking components and thank you for giving us a look at such an awesome set-up🤌
I love the level of OCD attention to detail, for example how each RCA input not-being used has a proper cover/cap. The liner on each shelf to protect from rubs and scratches. The care taken to keep cables from rubbing or crossing each other wrong….hehehe One of the reasons it’s a joy to purchase used equipment in this hobby is when you can actually see the care people put into their investment
The setup looks awesome, and I love getting to see the breakdown of all the cables!
You’re pretty good as is. Thing you could do to improve it get the signal cables away from the power cables. If they cross have them have a least a few inches apart from each other.
EDIT: a little cheap trick you can do is use white tack, a little ball on the wall behind and have it hold up the signal cables against the wall, between the little bit of pressure and the tack stuff, they’ll stay up and away from the power cables.
That’s what I actually did at first… I taped the signal cables against the wall away from the pc. But in the end I couldn’t really tell if it made a difference or not, so I went with the more aesthetically pleasing look.
What typically happens when you have them rubbing/crossing against each other?
Best case scenario, nothing, worst case scenario you pick up noise. Whether I hear anything or not, when it comes to cabling I always follow best practice even if I don’t hear anything. Aesthetics matter of course, even in the back.
Sometimes you can pick up interference, you can usually hear any outside noise in the system, thus if you have none it’s not an issue. Or at least that’s how i go about my business.
Finaly got it all installed. I feel like there are a shocking amount of chords down there for just having a single chain tbh…
The contrast between the hifi gear and the monitor/keyboard/mouse and office vibe is kind of hilarious and boss at the same time, congrats on the new gear!
If i keep my desk messy no one will ask what i have
@orrman @Draaly You both have absolutely gorgeous looking set-ups.
But also…
You and I may have very different definitions of messy.
Its 8am on a monday and i clean it ever friday. It will get there
Music listening. Amps on outside, dacs, source, distribution inside. Interconnect runs are not ideal. I feel I might finally have the location and layout of my gear right and so will finally be able to make cables to fit. Power cables are tidy though and nicely kept apart in two runs.
Yes that is a Meccano car. I have a friend who likes to give me things to make for Christmas who decided I should experience Meccano
To the left are speakers and Motu for PC sound. I would love to have better placed speakers for the room and just a pair of smaller monitors for PC sound but partner doesn’t see a need so these double as room speakers for the living room.
