Thank you very much. I am really very happy with it. I’ve spent the last three years collecting the gear and I have learnt so, so much along the way, especially from you reprobates. I know how much better it sounds than anything I have personally listened to before and it is so much fun to spend time immersed in music that sounds more real than I thought possible. I have had huge amounts of enjoyment out of the collecting and bargain finding to get to this point too! So much of the fun is in the diagram!
And honestly, the plug sockets, it was overdue… the amount of effort I have put into cable management really did demand some thought in how the plugs were plugged! You can stop being right now before I get sidetracked by cable runs again.
So I do make charts of my setup just for myself to make sure that I have any clue what I’m doing as I change things around, but for that, I honestly just use Mermaid (the same charting software that the forum uses):
I think on HFG @dB_Cooper started the “show me your backside” thread. Maybe we should bring that back here on Sonus? Nice to have some positive peer pressure to keep the cables under control.
I noticed you are using Orbi router and sattelites. In some months I am moving and consider to get Orbi as well.
Are you happy with it and does it have a great connectivity?
It’s been a while since I’ve showed my setup, partially because It’s been constantly changing but also because it hasn’t felt complete nor completely satisfied me. But I feel like I’ve finally completed what I was after!
Amp: WA8 + updated Sylvania 6BF7 Tube. Neutral/Neutral Bright with a focus on impact, speed and extremely fun presentation of detail, micro dynamics. DAC/Music Transport: Hiby RS6. Very linear with focus on organicness, detail and more euphoric relaxed presentation. Headphone: Verite Closed. Fairly warm, considered ZMF neutral (which I don’t consider anywhere near neutral lol). However I specifically have it paired with Eikon Suede (solid) Pads which make all the difference in the world, treble and mids are far more neutral than any of their stock configurations while the bass still has a bump. Presentation is great, full of punch, energy and airy treble.
Important: I cannot understate how essential the Pad change to Eikon Suede (Solid) and the tube swap on the amp to Sylvania 6BF7 have been. As soon as I took care of that it all came together. There’s some real synergy going on with this transportable setup, it outperforms anything else I’ve heard and it’s been nothing short of amazing. Love everything that it does. It’s not as balanced still as an Andromeda or Focal Alpha however I think any qualms I have with it sonically are directly correlated to how hard it is to make a closed back headphone. But everything else is probably as close as I’ll get to what I want, very powerful sounding, very linear mids and treble, outstanding presentation that I’ve only heard a handful of times with other setups and definitely the peak of HiFi for me.
Random? Also I just use a simple Audioquest Tower 3.5 to 3.5 cable to connect the RS6 line out to the line in on the WA8. Just didn’t want dog shit lol.
Current setup for desk 1, with desk 2 peeking on the left w/ my scanner. That one has my RNHP mounted to an arm with my work setup. Also, TIL panorama mode makes my phone camera shit itself, so pardon the potato quality.
