On the Eikons you’re using the Eikon pads?

Yes, the Lambskin Eikon Pads

I you’re curious, try the Universe pads. It will enhance the stage width and depth considerably at the expense of a little bit of slam, but the Eikons can afford that plenty.

Ha! Thanks for the offer, but not ready to start trying new gear yet. Too many new and borrowed items already on hand.

Hello again everyone. It’s been awhile so I figured I’d re-enter the fray with an update:

My system now looks like this ^ Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary speakers on custom stands and the old Rythmik F12. Power amp is a Job Electronics (or Goldmund? Not sure tbh) Job 225. Preamp is still my Decware CSP2. My digital source is simply a Bluesound Node. Turntable is a Fluance RT85 I use with a Schiit Mani and two different cartridges, an Ortofon 2M Blue and a Nagaoka MP-110. Cables are a mix of Luna, Morrow, Audioquest and an Amazon Basics (going to the Node).

This ^ power amp and the Lintons are the two biggest changes I guess (also the massive downgrade to the digital source lol). I wasn’t immediately wowed by my speaker purchase until I got the Job 225. Added some much needed low end control over stuff I was trying before. It’s a rare piece of gear that I just happened to be interested in and popped up on the used market almost simultaneously… lucky for me because it’s a great fit.

Overall it’s a nice sounding setup… my goal here was a relaxing organic listen without sacrificing too much and good soundstage and imaging. I’m pretty happy with it for the most part. I will be upgrading my phono stage and cartridge in the short term as well as put something on the blank wall space but everything else is great.

Hope everyone’s been doing well.

Its been a while Don. I would like to think everything that enters that room turns black and white until exiting.

I’ve been eyeing the Lintons a lot since I love the look of them and always wondered quite how good they were

Finally got the front wall done, so i’m posting my 2Ch setup:

  • Cambridge CXN V2
  • Cambridge Azur e851 Preamp
  • PS Audio M700s
  • Morrow MAP4 interconnects
  • Kimber 12TC cables
  • Focal Kanta 3 loudspeakers

I live in a loft and unfortunately my living room is hardly an ideal listening room, even disregarding the need to pull triple duty as my WFH background, and my regular living room. There’s a glass sliding door just to the right and about 12ft of open space to the left, and I’ve struggled to find any first reflection solution to either, so i was pretty doubtful that putting any real treatment in the room would accomplish much. Oh how wrong I was

I got these Kantas in Oct, and I had a bit of buyers remorse with them for a while, they just never really sounded quite how they did in the dealer’s demo room. They were a bit bright, and bit loose with bass, and not quite a refined as what I was hoping. Seems like I fell into all the usual traps as a result…I chased amps, dacs, cables, everything until trying room treatment. They all helped, and the system got tangibly better every time, but I was still missing some cohesion, refinement, imaging, and “sparkle” in the sound…it’s always the last place you look I guess, but at least I got there in the end

Very pleased with the results, i’ve got a few more panels for other walls, but I think im done with gear hunting for a while (please god be done with gear hunting :crossed_fingers:)

Same experience with room treatment; made a huge and positive difference. Beatiful set-up!

Looks. Good!

With the cool loft space, great looking stereo gear and motorcycle in the background, you are probably the coolest person I know. :sunglasses:

Where did the wood paneled sound treatments come from?
