I miss Tidal’s curation. It’s one of the best of those that I’ve used.
Have fun at the show!

I was blown away to find out that @Jetman was at this performance (one of my absolute favorites of my all-time favorite guitarist).
How awesome. ![]()
wanted to share a mix on soundcloud which i’ve been enjoying a lot lately. it’s a dj that’s very rare in today’s landscape, shines by simplicity and musicality and his selection of forgotten and unusual gems.
great music to enjoy with some fine herbs, he needs about 15 mins to get started but when he starts with “this is my house and i live here” he has me completely.
^ Have not been able to stop listening to this, one of my favorite “chillgressive” albums I have found so far.

One of my favorite metal albums recently. The opening to this song is so unique and chilling.

Lebanese Blonde was the Thievery Corporation song that turned me on to the band.
Take the edge off with some atmospheric doom on this Presidents’ Day evening with this fine album by Oak
@ValentineLuke Crazy!! I discovered this just last evening!! When it’s time, it’s
time…love how that works. Amazing recording of the Ring, and I have always
loved Solti.
Yeah, Solti is great. Though it’s older, it’s still considered one of the best recorded performances of The Ring cycle. I also enjoy some of the von Karajan recordings as well.
Some of the older recordings with Astrid Varnay (Wagnerian Soprano) are kind of cool too. Not the best quality but still impressive, IMO.
@ValentineLuke Love these older Decca’s! Spotify – Mussorgsky: Pictures At An Exhibition / Ravel: Le Tombeau de Couperin
I generally use AMHD, this one is for easy reference.
PS that Chicago brass section!!
Not my typical fair but Regina Spektor is one of my guilty pleasures
What a throwback!
That first piece was used in a radio program (if I’m remembering correctly) that I used to listen to growing up. It was called Music Until Midnight or Thereabouts hosted by Tom Dixon. He was a well known radio host here in Los Angeles. Such a soothing voice.
Thanks for bringing back that memory. Dixon passed in 2010 (?), but I hadn’t listened for a few years prior. He was blessed to live into his 90’s. It was a great program that I often fell asleep to. Good times.
Ahh, memories, eh? Now you reminded me of Papa Hambone from Chicago radio (wls or wgn?) who had a late night smooth jazz program that I used to listen to on my way home from a date!! Fun, thanks.
And also had a soothing, deep voice!
I have just a few old CDs of great classical recordings I bought in the 80s some from Deutche Gramophone and some Decca. I’d love to get some quality recordings but every time I look in to try and purchase something, it’s so overwhelming as you’re dealing with not only the composer but the arrangement, the recording, the label the symphony orchestra… it gets a bit overwhelming. Even finding that particular recording Wagner/Solti/Vienna Philharmonic @ValentineLuke shared takes time to find and when I do, the detail of it in Roon says the album was released in 2014 not 1985 like the Apple link says… how does not not pull their hair out?
