Hard Groove by RH Factor (Roy Hargrove)
This whole album just sucks me in, and I can’t seem to get away from it. I keep finding myself listening through this album - Roon play count for the album is up to 24, title track is at 52! (added to collection 22 September 2021… which means I’ve listened to the title track (Hard Groove) almost 1 / day since I added it…)
I like this better than their original album, also a damn good recording.
Now you have me listening to Robert Plant, lol.

This is a fascinating album.
I refuse to admit it’s Deep Purple without Jon Lord, but this a very enjoyable listen.
A lot of covers of older material by other bands.
I can’t get over this song right now. It sounds so… ethereal cowboy? Like something David Lynch would direct the music video for.
This one’s just beautiful. Intimate, emotionally compelling, just give it a listen on something with good bass.

One thing I really like about Deezer (and why I chose to subscribe to that service) is the recommendation system works just how I like it. It is part algorithm and part curated so you get some really interesting musical paths to wander down. Until you arrive at German psychedelic stoner prog metal and, blinking, look around in confusion, wondering how you ended up amongst all the central European shoe gazers.
