Thread for the Schiit Bifrost 2 dac

Yo yo yo, question. I have problems connecting certain devices like my tablet and my sisters phone to the bifrost thru USB. Like it dosent recognize anything from the bifrost. Know what settings might be in charge of that?
Either the device will have a usb audio 2.0 driver or not.
There is a chance if itâs android you might be able to find an app with a driver.
Try using usb audio player pro, it should have the necessary driver to make it work
Dang Iâm more confused than when I started  so essentially the phone needs a specific driver?
also shouldnât this be posted in the âgeneral source gear help threadâ?
Only issue is that Iâm trying to Spotify
IDK lol. Iâm having trouble just putting music lol
Do you have OTG on ?
UAPP is worth the few bucks they ask for it. I use it over the default player on my hiby R6 2020. It is what Schiit suggests for android as well.
I couldnât use my DAP (Sony NW-ZX300) to feed the BF2 either. Luckily I had a laptop sitting around that I wasnât using.
The BF2 is a little fussy on what kind of feed it will accept. I actually bought a USB to SPDIF adapter that did work, but it was a pain in the ass.
I think that is because of the Unison USB. I believe it is finicky with certain branded DAPS. At least you have the adapter and got it to work though.
The laptop is a lot better, but it takes up SO much space.
Desktop space is always the conundrum I find myself in as wellâŚat least for my main PC chain upstairs. My work from home chain down in my den I have a lot more space, thankfully.
BF2 only supports the newer 2.0 spec and not the original 1.0 spec, and a lot of devices donât have drivers.
Same reason they say it wonât work on Win 7, didnât ship with a 2.0 driver.
Android devices are just all over the place in what drivers get included, but an app can include a driver (which you canât do on apple).
With 2 new âflavorsâ of yggys released today, i thought Iâd give my thoughts on one of my favorite dacs, the A2 Unison USB version. This dac provides a very enjoyable musical experience mainly in bass and a wide sound stage, with also great overall details and depth.
Before the Yggy A2 , I had a Chord Qutest and Bifrost 2. Though the qutest was better detailed and had very nice depth compared to the BF2, i was really missing what the BF2 did compared to the Qutest. It just lacked the width and timbre of the BF2, and it just came off as dry. So i made a bigger leap and found a decent priced yggy used. I was very glad I did because it tremendously improved the XI Broadway and lcd 24,th900 I had at the time. The Yggy still has been one of my favorite audio purchases.
Skirting around the having to pick a tuning and the ASR measurement group thatâs so influential.
I really wish theyâd just pick one.
Adding an additional good measuring device is not a first for Schiit.
I think there maybe was some difference in opinion internally and theyâre letting the market decide.
The Yggy GS will go away so its +1 in the Yggy line for them.
Iâm a bit concerned though, 3 identical looking versions, they already had trouble distinguishing black from metal when packing my BF2 at the time.
The confusing thing to me is to try and spin a yggy at a measurement crowd. Thatâs far out of the price range one of those types of people would pay for, unless it made top of the asr sinad chart or something, and if it accomplished that it likely isnât going to sound good at all. So it just seems like a thing of where if they truly thought the other version sounded better while being cheaper thereâs no reason to try and sell that. Just confusing to me, just sell the og and the less is more, donât understand the reasoning behind selling the 3rd one
Also looks like same analog cards so thatâs a shame, although perhaps those will come later
yeah, i was also mainly waiting on an analog 3 (A3) release, this is unexpected.
would be really schiity if they release the A3 boards later this year.
the less is more could become a crowd pleaser if you read the reviews, price is also interesting.
i wouldnât overthink it, they have a history with ASR, its just their way, just because they can.
