It uses the fiio 4 pole spdif standard over the 3.5mm jack, and iirc it uses the pole closest to the base of the connector for spdif and next one up as ground
Cool, didn’t know the std existed.
Don’t know if it’s actually a standard or not but it’s what a lot of the newer fiio use (older fiio used something different iirc), but I’m not even sure if it has to be 4 pole as long as it’s wired correctly

Getting tomorrow a P6P to try out for a while, potentially call it my own a little later.
What are good pairings for headphones and IEMs with it?
I plan to test it both as a portable option (probably mostly in the house for now) and perhaps as a source/DAC with one my amps as a second listening spot in the living room.
If that is the case, then the MK2 would sound superb on it, lol…
Got the P6P, the UX is terrible lol I can’t play a full album in order?
Sounds great with the D8KPLE from early impressions…
It’s definitely one that you have to spend some time with to get used to, I’ve still never got it to index my library (mainly my fault since I keep putting it off) and don’t get me started about the usb dac functionality
But damn that sound…
Punt the p6p out the window and buy a LPGT instead and then live happily ever after
Seriously though, the ux and ui was so bad and bothered me for so long, I regret not moving on sooner. What a headache.
Sorry I realize the last post was really negative lol I can help you with this problem atleast.
You have to use a third part application on your computer called drive sort to sort your SD card correctly or everything will be out of order on the DAP and yes you have to do this every time you put new music on the card…
I feel like the only person not bothered by the UI lol I’d probably only switch for a P7P or something.
I, too, love my P6P. Enough that I repurchased it. Yes, the UI is no Apple, but if you organize your folders well or just need a shuffle box that plays top tier quality, then you’re set.
Anyone with ears on experience of Utopia OG and P6P?
Much too long ago, but I would say that I enjoyed it and stop at that.
I know OG can scale more than that, but I would have been happy with that combo.
Has anyone found a way of mass reducing the length of names for folders etc on their sd card so that the p6p will actually index the card? Mine will occasionally just decide that once I’ve unplugged my usb cable, it wants to index it, which will cause it to crash
Necro alert.
I heard this podcast recently: Podcast: Alessandro Cortini on Campfire, Sennheiser, Sony & more | Darko.Audio
Alessandro Cortini is a member of NIN and was surprised to hear that he is an audiophile.
Even more surprised to hear that he is a huge fan of the P6 Pro. He essentially said quote “it’s the best DAP I’ve ever heard – it sounds so good, I don’t care about the UI”
Just thought it was funny to hear.
That’s hillarious. It’s as though he’s heard both sides of the chatter around the P6P or read this thread and wanted to state his position. This might predate some dudes and maybe not. In the grand old days of Oink (torrent invite site), Trent Reznor admited he was a member once it was shut down. He said there was nothing like it and he loved music. I wish it was based in some random island instead of England because it was amazing. There were so many rules to stay: 1) higher upload to download ratio 2) only high bit rate (maybe even pre lossless or lossless didnt make sense with storage sizes) 3) uniform labeling convention of tracks 4) only full albums. It was an OCD dream and they had everything… maybe their downfall. They had finished albums weeks before releases. Anyways, your share out made me think that Trent’s comment might not be bs. Maybe NIN was made up of audiofiles who loved to hear all kinds of music
Does the P6P have any issues with uploading music or updates with Macs?
How am I supposed to navigate the UI of the P6 Pro?
With another DAP
lmao yeah, the UI absolutely sucks. Can it be used as a dac? Connecting it via USB only lets me transfer files.
