Pure curiosity, why no Lamm or 12 mention? Just cause its an actualy public article?
Itâs at the end, have a small note on it there, like very bottom lol
Must have missed it
Utopia + and ECP DHSA is nice and cost effective! That is, if youâre looking to do silly things with the leftover cash like save and invest wisely.
Going off of the product page for Eletechâs Inferno, it seems like the MYSPHERE wiring matches the Hifiman R10, so that might open up some manufacturers as well. For example, I noticed that DHCâs Complement C doesnât list MYSPHERE specifically, but they do list a connector for â3.5mm TRRS single balanced (Oppo PM-3, Hifiman R10)â, so maybe?
EDIT: Another one of their cable product pages refers to the same connector as just âOppo PM-3 Balanced (3.5mm TRRS)â
I think @OneEyedHito used an aftermarket he r10p cable for mysphere
Yes that is correct, I have an aftermarket cable made by Trevor at Norne for the R10P that works wonders with the MS, speaking of that I have a set of 3.1 for sale if anyone is interested, complete set excellent condition, cheapish price.
if you ever sell that cable, lmk
I noticed that Lavricables recently added MySphere cables, with both single 3.5 TRRS and dual options.
I got lavricables silver ultimate I believe with my 3.2 as a bonus as I bought it from the lavri owner I believe. It is fine cable but not competing with high ends I guess. But sufficient enough for me for now.
I ordered one of their Grand cables to try.
Lavri having the least informative labelling of levels.
Reference < Ultimate < Master < Grand
Iâm not sure he understands what Ultimate means.
Is there a reason to choose dual over single?
I always found that funny.
I do dig those aeico connectors they use. They look really solid.
Probably not, the only real reason to do it is it makes terminating the small connectors easier for larger gauge wires, which probably means itâs mechanically stronger.
There might be some marginal improvement because of reduced crosstalk, but Iâd imagine itâs negligible.
Actually is it possible to use adapters for other hps if you go dual?
Or does the special wiring of the MS eliminate that option?
I already promised it to you!
So for placement, basically you want the driver part (the big bulge) pretty much inside (or gently touching) your ear opening as much as possible?
And also just to confirm, these are much less sensitive than a utopia, for example, volume-wise?
I donât think it has to touch your ear unless you really want the most bass there. If you open the wings it is not touching the ear and stage just opens up. But it is crucial to position that buldge at the level of ear opening. Which was a tricky part for me but if you play with it a bit you will definitely hear when it is in the right spot.
No the hinge will touch you head at the front or just in front of the ear.
You can move the wings back to touch your ear, and that will increase bass, but youâll lose some of the staging.
I run mine all the way open, some people close them in slightly, (10 or 15 degrees), itâs a preference.
Vertically you want the center of the drive aligned with your earholes, this was easier for me to get ball park visually put them on without a cable and use a mirror, then fiddle with it while listening.
One you have it positioned as you like it, make a note of the vertical scale on the side.
I have another post above on adjusting them, but it says much the same thing.
I seems like a lot of fiddling when you first get them but you rarely mess with them when they are dialed in.
They should be less sensitive than a Utopia, but if they seem noticeably hard to drive, itâs possible youâre wearing them too far forward (as in, too far in the direction of your face). At least, thatâs a mistake that I made very early on when I was first using the MYSPHERE.
I tend to run mine just a smidge closed like Polygonhell describes here, 10-15 degrees sounds about right. (Iâm also running bass frames which might account for some of that preference.)
