LB-acoustics MYSPHERE 3.1/3.2

I run bass frames too, the source chain does matter a lot.

This is my earlier post on adjusting

My cable showed up I ordered double, because why not?
I would recommend you order it single terminated at the headphone end, from a pure convenience standpoint, it’s just more annoying to put them on with the dual terminated cable.
I’ll share my impressions of the cable when I get a chance.

My reasoning was maybe you could get adapters if you had a dual cable in case one wanted to use on other hps but maybe that’s more of a hassle for both the user and the one making the adapter.

What were you using before? Stock?

Yes which is among the most ergonomically bad cables ever (second only to the focal abortions), the shorter one isn’t terrible, but is too short for my use case, and the long one is just annoyingly unmanageable.
You can make it slightly less annoying by coiling a couple of feet of it and tying it off.
The angled connector on it is nice though and I wish the Lavri cable had those.

I guess you could, but adapters from 3.5 mm TRRS, don’t seem like the best idea, makes more sense from lemo or mini XLR if you were looking to share a cable. And you’d definitely want angled adapters if they were to the mySphere.

I THINK I finally figured out the fit for my head. I’ve been trying to follow roughly what’s pictured on the manual and m0n’s article. However, that didn’t allow the front edge of the frames to touch the front of my ear. The frames are all the way open btw.

Then I realized my head is smaller than average so I tried wearing the MS more like regular hps. The headband piece would then go towards the center of my head rather than closer to my forehead. Kind of like this pic…

This allowed the frames to touch the front of my ears as polygonhell mentioned earlier. I’m just hoping moving them back won’t cause too much discomfort as I try again later tonight.

I got this down right before sleeping so I didn’t listen for very long but it sounded VERY impressive in those few minutes.

I continue to hate this shoelace of a cable. Lol

The easiest way as I said is to look at yourself in the mirror while adjusting.
They can be a little uncomfortable, until you get used to them.
The top of the headband is more or less horizontal, and the front of the ear pieces vertical, like that image. At least that’s how I wear them.

Damn, it’s tough acclimating with the mids of other hps now.
Put on utopia tonight and I’m like… mids?
Just wasn’t feeling it. lol

I couldn’t go back to other headphones without constant feeling that I am missing something. That is why I just sold Utopia and want to sell Susvara as well.
The only exception is EDM or hip hop on fostex but I like that music on MySphare as well but only when production doesn’t suck lol

That’s exactly how I’d describe it… you’re just missing something.

Even with the quirks like dealing with hotspots on my head and having to listen to music more selectively, it’s been worth dealing with so far to get that experience.

Only thing that pisses me off is this stock cable. Pretty much the only thing that prevents me from using the MS more. I may be a bit biased since all I’ve been doing lately are cable upgrades, but it just sounds like ass.

I was gonna share some impressions, but I don’t think I’ll be able to add anything more useful than the rest of the earlier posts already had.

Though once I replace this cable, then that’ll probably be something worth sharing.

I guess I will say that I’m not blown away with the MS on my current chain (allnic amp), but it’s most definitely enough to impress and sway some perspectives.

Anyway, thanks to the sonvs community for pushing the MS. It’s a keeper for sure.

That’s what I’ve had to do as well, was never able to get a comfortable fit the way it’s usually discussed, but thankfully they are as adjustable as they are and you’re able to figure out a good personal fit.

Increasingly, I’ve found that my two most used headphones are the mysphere and the fostex I have, they really compliment each other well.

This is 100% how I feel. When I just had a pendant it was a bit wonky sounding, but you could tell that it could impress, and after getting the synergy right it pulls ahead of other headphones in a way that really is nothing short of magical ^ _ ^

I really am happy to see more people enjoying it around here. It definitely deserves to be heard by more people.

Brise Mikumari ref.ii / Kimber Kable Axios Copper

TLDR; Two words + emoji: Brise magic :magic_wand:

The why: So I think the Brise has much better synergy over the Kimber on my system. I find the Brise to elevate everything without adding too much of its own character into the mysphere, all while maintaining high levels of balance. In addition, it adds a hint of sweetness to the mysphere, making it a joy to listen to. It’s really really good imo, and trialing the Kimber only cemented my initial thoughts.

Getting into it: Overall, in terms of performance, the Brise edges out the Kimber in ALL technical aspects (dynamics, grip, staging, detail, texture, etc…). Better everything, plain and simple. What the Kimber does have over the Brise is bass warmth, which isn’t always a good thing. However, my system already has all the bass I could ask for, so it was a bit too much with the Kimber.

Now for the negatives…

The Kimber, overall, tilts the mysphere into the more intimate and warm side of the spectrum. It was a bit too much on my system, and it ended up sounding somewhat congested. While the bass had good heft, it was too thick and meaty overall. Mids were intimate and tonally neutral, but it sort of detracted from the mysphere experience imo. It’s weird. It’s like the Kimber was restricting what makes the mysphere special. Even the stock cable didn’t do this :joy:. Comparing the midrange sweetness of the Brise, it was plain obvious which one I liked more. Treble was actually pretty good on the Kimber. It doesn’t sound sweet like the Brise, but it had good energy and presence. The caveat is the peaks in vocals were quite apparent on the Kimber over the Brise. Staging is kinda flat and closed-in; it doesn’t have much depth, width, or verticality. I thought the Brise meshed well with how the mysphere stages. All in all the Kimber Axios is a good cable, maybe even a great cable… but NOT with the mysphere (3.1) and NOT on my system.

I had thought in my head that the Kimber would be a nice alternative but I just couldn’t hear it. Perhaps on a more anemic system who knows? But it gets a hard pass from me, at least with the mysphere 3.1.

I ended up having the same thoughts with the 3.1, the kimber just does not mesh well. I actually think it’s pretty great on the 3.2, but on the 3.1, it just does not like whatever that cable is doing lol. It’s pretty surprising how differently the headphones react given on the version to cables

I was pretty surprised as well. I was like, ā€œwhat happened?ā€ lol
I guess it was my first time experiencing bad synergy with cables

I would have just gotten another axios for the 3.1, but when I tried it, I literally thought my 3.1 were defective or something. That being said, I think with my cable, I’ve got a hybrid one, and I still think it sounded better than stock, but did mess up some things, so I wonder if the pure silver one would be a better match with the 3.1, and that pure copper would be worse lol (at least for the axios)

I ain’t curious enough to buy and try for myself (not this time). lol

Yeah absolutely same here lol, the price on that thing is nuts too lol. If I didn’t (still) have someone making me a custom 3.1 cable, I’d go for the brise for sure lol. I will say that the lavricable is easily better than the kimber on the 3.1 for me, but the kimber is a decent bit better for the 3.2 (although lavri is still quite good for the price)

That custom one is taking a long time. lol
It’s also weird the mikumari is pure copper as well (as far as I know)
I wonder what kind of magicry they put on there…

It’s just a friend who is doing it on the side, I told him no pressure so he can take as long as he wants lol. So he’s just going to dick around with it until he gets something interesting

I’d say the brise isn’t really like what I’d expect from most copper cables to my ears, although the cable material and sound really depends more on the mfg rather than something being silver or copper or whatnot

Oh, I should note he did send me a prototype that I’ve been using, and it’s good, but he thinks he can do better, so the wait continues lol

Does he also have the mysphere? I assume he would

True… Brise is just so secretive about it. lol (I get why though)

:+1: Better think of a name for it in the meantime. Lol

Yeah, he’s actually mainly a 2ch guy and was skeptical of them, but ended up being pretty impressed after hearing them lol

Makes sense

lol
