Thanks for sharing em, tbh I’ve heard their name before but never their actual music. Even seen the first girl in multiple variety shows (btw do u watch any variety shows?? or even k-dramas ) But yeah pretty good song! liking it alot, gives some April-esque vibes. Also this song in particular seems fairly old considering the music video style too. So i guess they’ve been around.
word dude, really liking what they are doing.
Love Gfriend, also bro not only is their music but the real reason they became so famous (specially considering they came form a small company) is actually their knife-sharp type of dancing. They reached maximum synchronization LOL. Check this out tho
also, anyone think we should make almost a seperate thread for Kpop? Idk, i just don’t want to drown the korean music thread in kpop, but i don’t know if that means that we should make it a point to try to bring more attention to ya know indie type of korean music by talking more about it or if we should still have alot of kpop discussion considering that it really is a big part of their music industry. Just wanna let people come in here and expect some good shit, not just kpop.
HIVE MINDSET LOL! almost sounds negative in english lol
For anyone that is interested please participate! I know that not everyone likes Kpop and I don’t want people looking for cool indie Korean music to have to see kpop everytime they go in here. So would be nice if you could vote wether we should have a different thread for kpop to not bother people with it or if you don’t really care.
That’s fair, there is a bit of overlap between kpop and other korean music
let me accomodate u HAHAHAHA i will show u their good stuff because many people only look at BTS’s new stuff and think they suck
These are a few of them, man I remember these days. At one point a time they really were the best boygroup in existence imo. Not only did their music speak for themselves but their dancing was just sick afff. Actually share alot of similarities with Gfriend, both groups come from small ass companies (essentially if you don’t come from the big 3, SM,JYP, YG you are a smaller company but even within the small companies theres smaller ones with no names) and both made it huge (altho BTS took it to a worldwide level and marketed themselves with more mass appeal eventually). Buut both made cool music and also phenomenal dances!
In order to not counterbalance this thread a bit! Here’s my song of the day 황진아 - 월정명 (Hwang Jin Ah - Full Moon. Phenomenal discovery of an artist that @Kron made during his music rampages. I took enough interest and bought her album, this specific recording of this song isn’t as cool as another one I’ve heard but still good and this song itself is just awesome. Love the vibe around it, love the instruments and the vocals. Super awesome. Don’t even know what genre it would be considered.
It wasn’t alway like that, as you may have noticed as time passes alot of the K-Pop fanbase has become children. It’s been one of the main issue with newer groups like Izone, Itzy etc etc. BTS as they grew more popular and worldwide also changed their style to basically target children and now most new young BTS/K-Pop fans are literally around 10 to 12 years old. And BTS in particular really plays into it nowadays lol. With the change in music style and lyrics you really see how they just target young people who think anything they write is “deep” LOL.
As an OG BTS fan though I’m just happy for their success and that they now have the opportunity to make tons of money and also leave their mark in history, even though I legit don’t care about their new music nor am part of the market that they are targeting.
My boi Jang Beom Jun 장범준 with his romantic yet cute song about love 그 모습 그대로!! (Don’t know what the song’s name is in english) Really loved this album as a whole, the energy in this album is so nice and positive. Really Jang Beom Jun’s energy in his music is just lovely. Good stuff.

Taeyeon has released another song!! Pretty dang great! Not just that but heard a bit of the b sides in the mini album and they are pretty good! Which I didn’t feel like her b sides were ever that good borderlining generic tbh
LETS MOTHERFUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING DEVITA IS SUCH A BEAST. LOVE HER FUCKING MUSIC AND THIS SONG THAT WAS JUST RELEASED (A FEW DAYS AGO APPARENTLY) IS NOT FUCKING DIFFERENT. SHE JUST HITS HARD

StayC released their song a couple days ago. Feels like their music keeps getting more and more unorthodox. I like it but it def takes some listens to get used to.
Nice to see some of my favorites (B1A4, GFRIEND, etc.) in here! I was initially uninterested in a lot of the “golden-era” kpop groups b/c I wasn’t too keen on the saw-synth club hits that pervaded that generation (I found Apink and a few other groups to be an exception to that.) I think the latter-half (2014/15) up to current kpop is more my style. I’m also a fan of 2nd gen groups like TVXQ up until three of the members split off.
Some favorites (that are not already in the thread):
Never gotten into K-pop, or other similar genres, but seems popular around here so I just started going through and listening to some of the linked tracks here. Interesting how 90’s US pop boy band/girl group sounding a lot of it is from what I’ve listened to so far.
I searched Britney a la poison to see what you mean and all i got was britney spears - toxic lol.
Seems fair, I think most people i’ve showed korean music to (usually more kpop) feel that way. about it generally sounding like older american pop music. It’s probably the case, feels like alot of american music shapes music in foreign countries. I remember the same happening in mexico for a while lol. Can’t say I’ve heard much American stuff besides early 2007 type of pop which i LOVED!
