Industry News, Rumors, & New Releases 🤐

I guess Hifiman bought the company that made the prelude, and are rebranding it.
10W into 32 Ohms, class A for $2500, so I guess a Holo competitor

EDIT- just noticed @hifiDJ posted it above

According to the video from thrsourceav shared here you recycle the device when the tubes die out.

New iFi cable.

Wow, I just noticed Ohm has really streamlined their lineup. Only the Walsh Talls for indoor. Their lead time is only two months now though.

Does it not flex or drape? That is unclear in the description, at least to me.

Dont know
Even someone asked iFi about the difference between Nova and Quasar on head-fi. iFi didn’t reply

worth the watch, thanks. at a price of $1008 USD, it’s NOT a sub $1K streamer. lol

Maybe priced to compete with the holo red that sold out but its streaming capabilities are limited (?) In comparison and still cheaper than a matrix

Big thoroidal as denafrips likes

It’s (Arce) interesting to me as a roon user and since I utilize qobuz via roon, the limitations don’t really concern me. I did not jump on the “Red” bandwagon because of the duality in purpose of that product. But, I would like to look into something as I expand my roon setup that is as good and potentially more affordable and most important, more of a single point solution than the Sonore offerings I have. I used to consider individual components better and perhaps in some instances they are but in others it’s just adding unnecessary complexity and costs. Sonore offerings though excellent, are an example of too many boxes to accomplish the task, IME.

I hear you on the number of boxes. That’s why I enjoy having my opticalRendu in conjunction with the USB alpha as I get to power them both with one LPS. I like the ethos of this Denafrips bridge but the sound quality I’m looking for is going to be high and I just don’t know if this will best the opticalRendu as power is sooo hugely important the higher up you go.

I may wind up giving the dCS bridge another try at some point because I like the overall signature of the better but the sonoreOtical is technically superior.

Had to take hacked screens of the email.

Not sure where the cable will fit, or if i would pic their silver plated copper vs their 50 other mixes. But it looks good.

I also like the big case. I think their iem stands look great i just dont use iems. I could use a case for a few things around the desk.

any word on pricing for a 4-wire hp cable?

Looks like it just went up.

$1999 base. It would be an extra $1000 for the 6ft I would need.

That is a big price for the risk. At that price point youre competing with prions, nirvanas, etc. Much more established and “known” quantities. The big appeal here is its just a thicker cable.

I wonder is this the same CFA3 that’s typically been a custom built?
I think I might be more open to look into one if it were a fit for me, now that it’s built/sold by a stronger source than hunting down a builder in a forum, and might have a better warranty option.

Also who has had one and can speak to it? orrman , karangovil I think were owners not sure maybe you too Eskamobob1 ?

Ahh never mind, this is a re-imagined design so not comparable - edit removing the direct @ call outs to the gentlemen above.

Interesting, I had heard about Kerry’s Eksonic productionizing CFA3 at some point but this looks interesting too. I’ll have to dig out some of the older conversations with Miro but at least from the I/O point of view this looks a bit different.

I think mine was one of the last ones built by Miro and he used one of the chassis he had leftover from previous orders as he wasn’t taking new orders. I used it with Studio B as pre and pretty much exclusively for 1266 and Sus. It drove them both quite well and besides the treble being a little too much for me at times (this is when I was being nitpicky), it was pretty excellent for the price point (I believe I paid around $3k-ish for it).
