Industry News, Rumors, & New Releases 🤐

Thank you, I should have paid more attention, I was half distracted with work.
That makes sense and actually a a worthwhile product given that additional flexibility. Might be a great solution for folks running a table as a streaming endpoint or a primary source.

No more Ultra

Honestly, this looks like charging an extra $300 for a braided ultra while eliminating the regular ultra. I do not have experience with the ultra our their build or cloth outer, but imho the braided cloth outer looks like a fisherman sweater pattern.

If it’s a less stiff and more ergonomically friendly Ultra, then my only gripe is that it wasn’t available when I bought my Ultra a few months ago. Even with the price hike.

This cracked me up, now I can’t unsee an old fisherman on his boat wearing one of those sweaters, and sitting back listening to mega bucks headphones with this cable🤣
Oh, and he has a pipe hanging out of his mouth

I have the Reference Plus, while I can understand the ergonomics can be bothersome at times it’s definitely not the worst out there for pricey headphone cables. I do wish they would be more transparent on the differences between the Reference Plus and Ultra, now Rhapsody, as they both add silver.

This mainly mentions the keyboard stuff but I wonder how audio offerings will be affected.

Very interesting to see if Corsair decides to enter an agreement with Senny and the like or just Drop them all together (pun intended)

Excited to try this with Utopia, could be a sweet portable setup with a laptop/tablet for traveling.

The wa8 was great with the utopia for travel, hopefully this is pretty good as well

Interesting when I glanced at the picture I immediately assumed it was Nutube based, but it isn’t.

Glad it isn’t, honestly never been fully sold on the nutube stuff from the things I’ve heard

Yes the use of subminiature tubes makes it more interesting, looks to be a hybrid from the description and they don’t state which tube it’s using.

Yeah hybrid, nice power for the size because of that, the wa8 is not very powerful in comparison lol. The wa8 used 2 6S31B power tubes and 1 6021 driver, wonder if they’re the same tubes used in the tube mini

I’d assumed it;s probably the same tubes as the WA8, but who knows.
Since it’s balanced It might be 2 6021’s, into the Mosfet output stage, but there are like a dozen or so subminiature tubes, including weird combinations, like triode/heptode pairs, which is both pre and power tubes in one.

I assume they expect you to replace the entire cradle if a tube fails.

Knowing Woo this might be a very costly endeavor. They have three years warranty but that’s probably not going to cover it. Definitely a risk to consider but for the price of the thing might be fine for most.

Those subminiature tubes are actually more robust than the big ones, and since it’s a hybrid, they are likely running at the very bottom of their power envelope, they could have lifetimes that could be measured in decades.
The Soviet equivalents are probably still available as real NOS in vast quantities
I guess at some level it’s no worse than the none replaceable battery in an IPhone.

Do we know how they deal with tube replacements in the WA8?
