Apparently they are now upgrading pacifics to a newer engine
Even past engine 11? They change so much so fast.
An aside, i see the best300b site is linked and the splash page works. Going to the shop still says unavailable though ![]()
well they do call it 11-P so I’m guessing not completely new
Yes been trying to get mine shipped in for 2+ weeks $800 shipping round trip, total of about 5K, but I’ve been unable to get them to create the shipping label and actually charge me.
Summer in Europe has left the factory short staffed apparently.
ooh that’s good info, I talked with them on upgrading one of their pre-owned.
What made you decide to go for it?
Lukas apparently thinks it’s a big upgrade, and I have the older USB interface on mine, that I’ve been meaning to get upgraded for a while, that’s $1500 with shipping on it’s own, and is a part of the digital upgrade.
Plus I’ve been surprisingly controlled in expenditure this year… Well minus the Unity.
Nice, I want to say I’ll wait for you to complete the upgrade and get some impressions on the upgrade but I’ll probably make my mind one way or the other before that. Trying to decide if I’m buying one and if I’m upgrading at the same time.
EU summer can tend to be one long summer vacation for most countries. I hope this goes quick though, i really want to hear impressions on the engine 11 even if it is a specialized Pacific edition
Antipodes released newer versions for their K and Oladra series and discontinued the S series.
I looked at their site remodel the other day A little annoying that the S series which is about 2 years old is discontinued. It seems like updates and support will still be trickling to the S, but it is annoying.
I like the antipodes sound and function, but they are one of those companies that is always silently revising things, or making a change and using the same model name, and it is harder to keep up or know exactly what things are.
Power amp, with all that heat sink on the chassis it’s got to be something like a class A power amp.
Looks sweet either way.
Schiit Urd, Finally after years of delays
The went with USB C? Seems an inconvenient choice, then again I don’t think I want to spin CDs instead of ripping them, I rarely listen to entire albums. But I have good thoughts of Schiit so I wish them well!
Yah. I get having tbe option, but seems wierd to not have a usb-a output and usb-b input at least as an option
I’m missing something. What’s the use case for a USB input in the first place?
Convenience it’s going to be basically a small computer in a box with a CD drive and dedicated software, rather than old school transports that relied on the quality of the mechanism to keep Jitter low.
Though given they have their own USB implementation, it might be running something more custom than an off the shelf OS.
I think they are also marketing it with a nod towards it working as a DDC. The whole digital hub thing.
