Most of those cans still reign, joined by the HiFiMan Edition XS as one of the titans in the space at $500 MSRP.

Yeah, stuff that comes to mind for me is the Sennheiser 6-series, Hifiman 400SE/Sundara/Edition XS, Adorama’s eternal deal pricing on the Elegia and the HE-6, and then also, the Elex and Ananda are sub-$700 new, so they’re certainly findable for $500 used.

“Studio trusted” with Reveal, they mean?

Something about that headband is looking kind of cool. Maybe an all plastic lightweight build.

That’s the Maxwell headband

Studio shit is getting old from them. Make a fun headphone again.

Was about to post the Quad. Interesting, it is the most copper cable by being one of the least copper cables.

Well … to be fair, the MM-500 and LCD-X 2021 sound pretty good without EQ. They’re among the first Audeze’s that don’t demand EQ.

I use the Audeze preset with Roon with my LCD-X 2021, and I think that’s the same as the Reveal. I also have a convolution filter based on Jaako’s amalgamation of various EQ’s that sounds really good, almost identical to the Audeze preset/Reveal.

Every time I listen to it, I think, “Hey, Audeze, why don’t you just tune them like this out of the factory?”

I havent heard all Audeze but I would say the only ones that i tried that demanded EQ was the older LCD-X, the 2021 is nicer with EQ though but can sneak though without it. The prefazors are great as is, and i would guess the 4, mx4 and 5 are more towards the no eq needed side.

I feel like this sums up Audeze as a whole

the lcd-5 improves a lot with some EQ.
My biggest problem with the 5 was the poor design of the cable connectors that can potentially come out with the cable because they’re simply glued from the inside. I sold my pair because of that and not being able to commit to EQ with every source I use.

They likely can’t, EQ is just a tool, there is nothing inherently wrong with using some sort of electronic correction for a drivers inherent behavior. There are things that have to be dealt with physically in the headphone design, and maybe electronic correction, lets you be more aggressive there.

The issue I have with Audeze “expecting” you to do it, is it isn’t part of the headphone, and isn’t available everywhere.

I’m not a fan of using EQ to meet some arbitrary target generally, but given Audeze provides the profiles, you have to assume it’s a part of the intent.
It’s much the same as Raal requiring Baffle compensation on the SR-1A, either by digital EQ, or EQ built into the amp, or the inline adapters.

I LOVE Audeze cans. Big fanboy here as a former owner of LCD-2C and current owner of LCD-X 2021.

But yeah, the tuning “fix” of the Reveal plug-in almost seems like a conspiracy to force customers to spend even more money to get the ideal tuning for their products. Weird.

I would disagree since their old version is free but rather they don’t know how to tune. :man_shrugging:t4:

Oh, sh*t. I thought Reveal was always a paid product. Thanks for schooling me.

Custom filters made by hqp which is actualy pretty damn cool tbh. Waiting for a tech break down since they did say they would do one

Sounds interesting in a way.
I don’t use a Hq player myself.
Specs are otherwise also solid on paper.

We’ll see what buyers have to say about it.

Nice surprises with the HDMI ARC and RCA analog in. Will wait for reviews but for that price (especially with hypsos) it’s got quite a competition to try and stand out
