Industry News, Rumors, & New Releases 🤐

IMO, no.

It’s better suited for the DSP in Apple’s own headphones, and I’m guessing you get a down sampled multi channel mix when it’s not a DSP device.

Picture from Verge shows it may be same format and language as Primephonic, which was great. I’ll be cking the Android when it comes out.

makes sense they’re using anything Primephonic could help with after the acquisition. I’ve never used it so wouldn’t know. I actually don’t use Apple Music but will be curious to try this out, mostly for the playlists and discovery.

@orrman I’ve not used Apple either, but loved Primephonic. Their search functions, suggestions and new release info were all great.
Don’t know if Apple will match their sound quality. We’ll see.

Small Green Computer has released a new version of their sonicTransporter i7. Might be a good option for those who don’t want to build their own NUC server box.

This is very cool of them. I wonder how noticeable those changes are but nonetheless should be encouraged and I hope more companies follow

ā€œApple has since confirmed … that there won’t be an iPad version of the Apple Music Classical app. More annoyingly, it won’t support offline downloads at launch; you’ll need a data connection at all times to stream.ā€

That sucks.

In the video, Alvin goes over some of the changes. A lot of the time domain sync stuff has been corrected. I guess this was a bigger issue with stuff connected to denafrips dacs that had it’s own clock…denafrips fifo buffer would stutter occasionally (i’ve never experienced that issue).

Also, there was mention to a better interface between the FPGA and the DSP. Im sure that probably would make an audible difference.

Couple of interesting amps I just found out about. One conventional HP amp and one enegizer (both tube based ~7k USD)

Same company also has a ~1k solid state dynamic driver amp

I saw the email earlier.

The adapter connection is pretty awesome.

That’s been a nice trend on iem cables, even higher end ones, wonder why it isn’t used on headphone cables or if there’s too much sonic detriment at that size

Yeah, I’m not really sure. It is a thinner gauge on IEM’s, but my default answer is that they’d sell less cables, haha.

Honestly don’t know about that, if anything that would make them a more unique option in the headphone market driving more sales. IMO that’s the only reason outfits like hart got popular even though their cables suck

Probably because it’s expensive to implement right and if done wrong would be a warranty headache. This looks elegant. Would love to see it in action.
