Hopefully they sound good too.

Diablo X for xMEMs that also retains the features of the og Diabloā€¦ . Iā€™m curious, though slightly amused (but understanding) that for one of the smallest & lightest transducer implementations, itā€™s optimal/required to be tethered to a transportable device. They might sound good on dongles or more portable DAPs, but itā€™s hard to tell right now with the current information we have.

Still looking forward to the CanJam impressions of the new Singularity IEMs and the Diablo X, though.

xMEMS transducers require a DC bias voltage to operate properly

Ohhhā€¦ :slightly_frowning_face:

Was about to post this same sourceā€¦egg shaped closed back planars. They look like a closed HEK, but priced closer to the Aria level.

Has closed back Hifiman headphones ever been good?

I think they made the R10D/P, R9, and closed Sundara. I only tried the R9, but it was JM modded and subbass was too bloated. Never listen to the original R9, but never cared to found out. I also never really heard people talked positively about the R10D/P (was always compared to the ESLab R10) and closed back Sundara (was always compare to the open-back Sundara).

I think @sa11297 had an R10P at one point.
There was a lot of backlash on Head-fi with it being a blatant R10 ripoff and the way Hifiman presented that, so who knows.
Good high-end closed backs are few and far between.

Pretty much why the Verite Closed became so popular. Very little in the way of competition.

Yep it had a real claim to best sounding highend closed back for a long time.
But since it shipped you have the R10P or the Rognir Planar, and I havenā€™t heard either.

I had one for a while as well. Technical ability was shockingly high but they didnā€™t even attempt to damp the cups at all and just left massive standing resonances everywhere. Rognir is better tonaly but a step back technically. Just tbh, I realy donā€™t like VC and all the crazy cup resonances. I think my pick for closed back at this point would be stealth or soli T (using it passive)

@M0N kind of similar to what you were mentioning they should do.

Yeah we were talking about that a couple of weeks ago. College dorm!

I had one. It was very well done actually. It was what I had always hoped the MDZ1R would have been but wasnā€™t. The R10P was coherent across the entire spectrum. Just as obtrusive to wear as the 1266-TC but not near as good. The Stealth did what HiFiman was trying to do in 40% the cup size.

I am more excited for the xMEMS than anything right now but this is the first Iā€™ve heard they require bias voltageā€¦kinda disheartening. I really think theyā€™re going to shake up the market though.

personally i liked the her10p. Didnt care for VC or stealth.
Thought stellia was pretty good.

Denafrips is starting to roll out FPGA updates for their DACs to bring them in line with the 12th anniversary FPGA software. They are starting with Ares II currently, and then moving up the model line. Very interesting videoā€¦

Awesome that itā€™s included with the Apple Music subscription.

Is there any benefit from spatial audio for normal headphones (through a dac)?
