Industry News, Rumors, & New Releases 🤐

Interesting to see that, wonder how it will turn out. Not watched the video fully, but doge stuff is legit so I would hope what they come out with would be worthwhile, although I’m always skeptical of “reviewer” versions of products for many many reasons (huge conflict of interest, if they actually know better than the company making the products, the inherent hype that comes along with it, if it causes issues for the company making it, if they will actually deliver something or if people will get screwed, etc etc)

Don’t you want another Crinacle or Bad Guy IEM???

He said in the video that the doge engineer handled the design while Thomas provided input on tuning and technicals. His comments seem pretty balanced on what it does well and what the short comings are.

Eventually he’ll have Jay and Sean review . I’m interested to see how it goes for him.

The definition of a teaser.

Looks like Ear pads being bathed in UV light? To seed the alien growing inside???

I think it’s resin, like Rosson Audio.

It’s a curing chamber for a resin printer, with what look like open back headphone ear cups, and a bunch of support. Personally I prefer to remove the support before curing, but you can do it either way.

That’s a resin composite, so interesting to see what they do without wood.

Rosson doesnt sla their ring like this picture. They pour them

It depends a lot on the resin being used too. If its a long cure its sometimes better to leave supports to prevent slumping even if it increases secindar processes

I don’t think ZMF would do production with SLA, doesn’t really seem viable, way easier to make a few silicon molds and pour the production pieces, though I guess matching the resin properties could become problematic.

I’m just lazy and I find removing the support in a warm water before curing requires less cleanup.
But I agree you can lose some shape if the partially cured resin is soft.

Tbf litteraly the only time ive ever seen it be an issue was with some hyper specific hyper engineered materials that were sumb soft before cure because they had go be hand sculpted between print and cure

I think this is more of a proof of concept before the wood. It would save time and give more consistent results to test with. Or just a core to build around.

I also know they were looking for a lower sub $1k price point, so maybe this hits that if they do sidestep the wood.

Oh Now I remember a video where Zach was showing off a prototype of that headphone. I do want to say that the cups were some man made material.

Yeah, I wasn’t referring the specific process, just the material.

I’m pretty sure @Souldriver and @Andy77 are correct. These appear to be the budget model zack has spoken of previously.

Shame it has his name on it… other than that for the price it’s probably an interesting headphones to try out. Wonder if they’re more similar to the X or 5.

I am surprised the price isnt higher. It will probably make for another interesting entry when it hits the used market at ~$1k.
