The $36k Mscaler bothers me. If it’s gonna cost that kind of money, it should be able to do its full upscaling and output through like I2S and USB.

Anyone heard of 1101 Audio before? Recently saw a buzz of a new amp of called the “Hexa”. Amp looks like a beast to be able to use pretty much a huge variety of different tubes. Still reading, but might reach out to see how much he is pricing for this beast…

Yeah he has been making custom tube amps for a while, they are very well received over on head-fi. I was actually on his queue at one point but at the time he had been backed up for over a year and I eventually decided to just go with the Eddie current studio b instead.
Still his amps look quite interesting.

I talked with him this morning a little and mostly going over the documents he sent. His amp customization option is really awesome. You, the client, have pretty much say on all the parts in the amp.
The power specs seem very insane for headphones. Using 300b tubes, if I select 150 ohms in the headphone ohm selector on the amp, I will get around 8 watts RMS. I am still waiting a reply for him, but I am assuming the same on the speaker taps. It’s pretty much a speaker amp that also was built to handle headphones.
On top of that, there is a pretty pricey add on to add estat (580V) headphone output.
If the queue is still over a year, I wouldn’t be surprised. There is a lot going on when he builds it. Just planning it is just a lot to talk about.

They look nice but I’ve always felt like Mezes planars really underperformed for what they cost. They’re always gorgeous, and pretty much my favorite looking headphone ever is the Sunset Boulevard Empyrean, but I’m fine with ugly and great sound if I’m paying that kind of money.

I still love my Meze Elites, but I paid nowhere near retail. They are so well-made, incredibly comfortable, and offer the perfect mix (for me) of resolution and laid-back, spacious musicality. They just disappear on my head, allowing me to sit back, relax, and enjoy the music.
I don’t think I’ll ever consider any headphones that cost $6K, but I’m still interested to see what people think of the new Arta, once it’s released.

On the video, “It’s close to the Stealth level.” In the forums, E3 got more resolution and bass than the Aeon Core…
What makes Stealth cool to me as a consumer is the ridiculously boosted subbass and the boosted vocal presence. Biggest downside is you will need a washer mod because the base clamp force loses that subbass. Another downside if they can make it less dry and boost the treble on the Stealth, I’ll be happy.

Interesting 
looks like a direct roon competitor and it actually comes in cheaper than a roon sub.
It’s also cool that Paul seems fairly involved. I might have to check it out, though it would take a lot to separate me from my roon ecosystem.
I also do wonder how much market share there really is in this niche within a niche hobby for this particular type of software when others are already a lot more established in the space.
