Industry News, Rumors, & New Releases 🤐

I’ve heard their headphone DAC/amp and what their ELISA circuitry can do. I think it’s something genuinely very interesting that works very well and that is definitely more than a simple gimmick. If the circuitry has the same or a similar-level effect/performance of the soundstage control as the desktop unit, and the DAC/amp stage techincal performance is good enough to place it in the “top tier” bracket, it could genuinely be a compelling unit to consider for a TOTL portable unit. Although, I will admit that 5K is really steep.

New soloist, I hope they improved upon the shortcomings of the 3xp

(The link says voyager but its for the new soloist stellar)

What were the shortcomings of the 3xp?

Mine were:

  • OLED screen burn-in issue
  • Jumpy volume when adjusting the volume
  • Volume tracking was odd. It would go up by 4 and then drop back by 1 when adjusting the volume up.
  • Noise floor with different headphones at all gain levels. Beyerdynamic T1 and HD800S had noise floor on mid and high gain. Focal Utopia had noise floor on low and mid, and high gain.
  • Burson ignored me about the jumpy volume issue (it seems they fixed it with a volume-replacement chip). I told them I had the same issue others were having and that the solution was replacing the chip, but they never replied.

@MacDLaw Curious what issues you had.

Noise floor was quite bad in medium gain high volume and high gain any volume, not my unit I tried 4.

The other one is that it struggles way too much with high impedance headphones, even focal clears and such.

The remote control was legendarily bad it worked only with perfect aim at 1 meter at most this one could have been only mine.

I think the main noise problem was something to do with the opamps earlier on. I had a set melt in my 3xp and after Burson sent a replacement set that were manufactured into the newer cycle, my amp was dead silent with everything. Like Topping level silent. That being said, the jump in performance moving to the silent power revision GT line was crazy huge and gained a ton of clarity and I really hope that carries over. I’d almost like to see Burson do something like the Valencia and drop the opamps gain and volume stage, the Timekeeper Voyager monoblocks are actually wildly capable in the no opamp mode and they could cram way more than enough power into a tiny little package if they lost all the bells and whistles.

I love Moondrop’s Cosmo. Eager to hear this :face_with_monocle:

These look like those sendy audio headphones lol

Obviously haven’t heard them myself but for $6k they better be something!

Only 99 units will be made btw

Yeah every time I see those all I can think is that they better sound damn good for that kind of money, but I have a feeling they’re just wonky and weird. Would be interesting to see how such a tiny little MEMS driver would mesh with a huge planar like that, but I have almost less than zero faith in the stock tuning.

Its gonna have to take more than one try to get them right just like when the empyreans relased (although that was quite a different tech)

And I really wonder why they chose susvara OG sensitivity for these ones

This looks slick. It says DX10000 CL on it. Looking forward to what people say about it next month :eyes:

Man, I kinda want one of these lol. Not too keen on spending $1000+ on a power speaker, but I like the idea of a Klipsch x Onkyo collab.

Inbuilt dirac too. Very interesting proposition

Though it does seem that is limited to the twp higher end models.

LCD-5”s”

This is a reminder i need to check on my PFs

It’s a shame, personally, that they still keep an identical form-factor to the original (was hoping for a change in that department.) Just found the LCD-5 uncomfortable for my plus-sized noggin, even with the extended yoke rods.

Looks like the pad shape is improved, though.

Saw this in an email anouncement from a dealer. Personally not into electrostatic headphones, but looks really cool
