Industry News, Rumors, & New Releases 🤐

I would like to hear ot but my DAC is pretty deadly already and o think its at a level where “better” leans more “different” and im not sure if i heard a pcm chip before. I also wonder what happened to him using the 63, or if that is sidelined for the two chassis dac he used to speak about a lot.

I agree, I’m so happy with my Mystique X SE with Z chip and nano crystal choke upgrade that I don’t have an appetite for change. On the other hand, I did email Benjamin just now, asking what the trade in value of my DAC was, just in case I get an (unlikely) urge to upgrade.

He posted in Audiogon a while back: “expect a new version of our famous EVO DAC for around $17,000 to be released in 2027 built around Burr-Brown’s famous PCM63 DAC chip.”

The one thing i dont like is today the pcm58 is the best but once the other unit releases itll be the pcm63 is the be all end all. One thing i like about my mojo that nothing else i heard delivers is the ever present bass thump that is the heart beat you hear throughout the music. I dont know if a lot of it is the AD chip since schiits offerings can be similar, or say the power considerations. Probably both.

Which Mojo you have? I mean the exact name of it with the chips and chokes etc, so many versions I get lost.

Mojo mystique X-Z-NC or something. It has Z chips and nano crystal cores

After a certain while with DACs it becomes about preferences and what you like and not about technicality or what they can deliver. After I put the AM chokes in my Mojo, I’ve had zero thoughts or desires to change it, I simply love it for what it is and what it does. Not that “better” doesn’t interest me either. It’s just a weird situation in that I wouldn’t even know how to begin to define better, or what I’d want to change, or my be sophisticated enough with what I’m hearing to even know what’s missing.

The other thing that I’m kind of unwilling to do is start playing the exorbitant price game. I refuse to start paying $15k $20k $25k for individual components, not a game I’m willing to play.

I would love to see Ben succeed with these offerings so he can continue doing exactly what he does, 1 because there would be more DACs out there and 2 eventually the used market would have offerings.

I kind of see what Ben does a passion, and yeah he’s a salesman, but he does believe in the stuff he puts out there ad the stuff he puts out there is and has remained unique in the industry.

I have the same model. I agree, for the music I like to listen to, it does bass and midrange exceptionally well. I was a little wary of getting the Z chip and nano crystal upgrade because I loved the sound of the stock model. Luckily it worked out, but I don’t know if I want to keep rolling the dice on an upgrade that I don’t necessarily need.

In case this is helpful for anyone considering the new Z model, I emailed Benjamin yesterday, asking for the differences in sound between the Z and X models and this was his reply.

The PCM58P is a totally different animal.

The sound is softer, rounder, more organic, more luscious, and more ethereal.

In a sense it would be like going a few more steps in the same direction your sound went when did the Z chip and choke upgrade. But it is more than that. The most notable thing to my ears is the emotional content.

We’ve been offering people $5,000 trade in on Mystique X SEs and $6,000 on X NCZs like you have.

Plus we’re offering a $1,000 discount on the nano crystal core choke upgrade on our first production run.

I’m so down to try this tweak whenever it comes out…

Kyoon™ | Arya Audio Page https://share.google/ddtA62BweEFXOYlQk

If you’re wondering what it is it’s like one of those passive conditioner plug thingies. It was mentioned in some forum awhile ago, but looks like it’s almost ready to be released.

Just some more info I’ve found on the kyoon. Seems like a limited thing…

At its core, Kyoon is a power line conditioner designed to suppress both normal-mode noise (the differential interference riding on live and neutral) and common-mode noise (the interference that couples across both conductors to ground). The result is a cleaner, more stable AC supply, allowing audio components to perform at their full potential.

What sets Kyoon apart is its foundation: the ultra-rare German-made Hydra capacitor, manufactured by the former AEG-Telefunken group in the 1990s — a true golden era of German engineering. These parts were built to uncompromising military specifications, designed to last decades rather than years, with highest precision and filtering capability unmatched by any modern equivalent thanks to their extremely tight tolerances and use of exotic materials.

Production ceased over 20 years ago, making them impossible to source today. We secured the last remaining stock, which allows us to create a strictly limited edition of 3,000 individually numbered Kyoon units. Once they are gone, they are gone.

OOP - excuse to charge $$$ ???
