Should be interesting how they price it compared to the DIY BOM. Will be great if they find a way to commercialize his higher end amps.
$3500 for ZMF Aegis
Probably around $3K if you ever bought a headphone directly from them
Looks like a shark tooth!
Havenât heard the caldera but seems to be a solid headphone. If he can make a closed version sound as good or better, thatâll be an accomplishment. Not too many successful totl planar closed backs.
If he can repeat what he did with the verite thatâll be a winner IMO. I thought the VC was better than the VO.
That reminds me I need to sell my VC in 24⌠They donât get used anymore
Thatâs pretty sweet for a simple setup. It looks like itâs priced as a potential BF2 upgrade.
The original Cyan was my first foray into big boy DAC territory. This looks like a great next gen from that original. It has support for both DSD and PCM which the og didnât and it doesnât include a gimped HP amp which the original had and you were forced to pay for. There may even be a KTE version but the price delta would need to be kept to < $200 to make sense.
It will be interesting to read whether it dethrones the Gustard R26.
Iâve already read that the Cyan 2 doesnât have a remote control and the input switch is supposedly missing, which is almost impossible from my point of view.
The KTE upgrade is only supposed to be the fuse upgrade and supposedly the red Auchan will be included.
Definetly interested!
Wait is it using the new USB 3.0 A to B??
@Deleeh Is there a ETA on the KTE version? (Im not able to browser at the moment.
Also, whats is a red auchan?
Looking at the internals there isnât much wiggle room for a KTE version. There seems to be no transistors they can convert to discrete versions. All I see is perhaps silver wiring for the power path and maybe upgrades to the caps? An orange USB input jack like theyâve done in the past and perhaps a better transformer but thatâs the problem, by the time youâve upgraded this that much esp if it includes a transformer, youâre at the Yggy OG level pricing and I doubt very much this would be better than a Yggy.
Learned of a new brand todayâŚ
I remember them from the mid 00âs, their powered monitors were great and evolved into passive. Had not heard much from them since, these look fantastic. Like a modern JBL array, great find!
I made a mistake in writing with the fuse.
If the information is correct, it would be this one:
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255800647905799.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.9.31bc6f12mgnCOT&algo_pvid=86db6673-49eb-4321-b8db-0665fcde3648&algo_exp_id=86db6673-49eb-4321-b8db-0665fcde3648-6&pdp_npi=4%40dis!USD!22.00!20.24!!!22.00!!%4021038ede17020156090874917e3a6e!10000008701006555!sea!US!0!AB&curPageLogUid=hzli4zbBVnzP
And I canât say whether the Cyan uses the new Usb.
I also only have rough information where it was claimed that there is nothing definitive.
I am inclined to agree with DB cooper, I donât see much potential.
It could harmonise well with the Red as a DDC and streamer.
I think there would be more in it I guess.
First Iâm hearing of this, but it looks like NITSCH is making a higher-end version of the Magni Piety:
I may grab one.
I personally preferred the Vali 2++ to the Piety when I had them side-by-side, but Iâll definitely be interested in your impressions if you do grab one!
EDIT: Blah, maybe I actually should grab one just to run the experiment again and sit it next to a Lyr+, lol
Thatâs an interesting thread, thanks for linking it.
I noticed that some on that thread found the Piety a bit harsh in the treble and that mirrors my experience as well. To my ears it was a fun, v-shaped amp that had some nice harmonics but a little too much treble (I had it on loan with the MB2 that went out on this forum).
A refined version of that sound would be very sweet.
Please leave your impressions if you get one.
