You could always go the passive pre route as well, the goldpoint and Khozmo preamplifiers look pretty dope.
So I’m planning to do a community article on the spring 3 and thought it’d be a good idea to include a section where sonus members can share any thoughts. If anyone has heard the spring 3 and is interested in contributing any thoughts, feel free to pm me and I’ll include it on the article. It can be as short or as long as you want; and as general or in depth as you desire. Either way, lmk thanks!
I know this was a long time ago but having come back to the spring from the lampi today, I think I now know what you’re talking about. Been noticing it on female vocals, in particular. It kind of inhibits the spring from sounding fully organic, but yeah it isn’t so obvious when you don’t have anything to compare it with.
Btw, how would you differentiate grain and harshness? I feel like grain deals more with lack of texture, while harshness lack of control or maybe resolution…
Same for me; my streamer is USB only and getting the updated elements in the KTE did it for me. And being in that area anyway made it easy to go for the KTE over the L2, but I also left out the preamp. It will not be used with speakers and my tube amp never gets beyond 10 o’clock on volume anyway.
The WAF will not be easy to obtain for this overall approach
Nice report you wrote on the Sonus site.
Although the Holo was on my personal shortlist and after consultation with some members, my choice would be made as soon as it was financially feasible.
Many thanks
Teaser: Holo Bliss KTE
Photo is from GoldenSounds discord.
I know not many Holo fans here and that’s cool you do you, but I’ve been extremely happy with my Spring even though I had some issues in the beginning resulting from noobness and fears as this was the first single piece of gear I bought that was over $3K, and also early adopter quirks (my S3 KTE is from the first batch) But I’ve come to really, really enjoy it and if the Bliss really does support Susvara, I might could see myself as an owner - Time will tell.
A lot of hype around the Bliss I hope it performs to match it. Looks great from the photos.
Holo’s build quality looks excellent. The internals look as impressive as the casework.
Hopefully you get a chance to try the Bliss @Delta9K. Really looking forward to hearing about it.
Let’s go, Holo hype!
I do appreciate the 4.4mm output. I hope more higher end desktop amps adopt it
I’d love to try one but I’m skeptical I’ll be willing to buy one for that. Did he share any sound impressions?
It’s Official -
TMK there are no reviews yet -
It’s not that much more than the OOR+Hypsos stack… I am really fighting the urge to pre-order - but still remember my experience being an early adopter of Spring 3 so… I will wait till a few are sold and in the wild for a couple months @ the end of Q1 23
You ordered one already?
I’m glad they skinned it down to just standard and kte. The different levels didn’t make sense to me
No, I’m resisting temptation for now…
I might bite. We’ll see. FML lol.
What Really, what have you done to orrman?
This is not something I’d expect to hear from him
I need a solid state for my desk to drive the Susvara (see all the other threads today lol)
I have nothing against Holo tbh
Had a good time with the Spring 3.
The New holo red apparently is both a streamer and a reclocker (usb and ethernet in) and seems to be measuring dumb low in jitter. Going to be a very very interesting product in the sub 1k price category it looks like.
Anyone here planning to get one? If its got the same magic sauce that makes the USB not matter in the may, I may try one tbh
It is on my radar, but I have heard nothing of pricing yet. I’m interested in the Bliss too but still waiting for units to land in real-world. The same is true for the Red. My luck they will both be good and want both and then will cave and upgrade the Spring3 KTE to May…
I’m actually pretty please with the Holo Spring3KTE+OOR/Hypsos chains as it is though and that’s I’m not as anxious as usual for new things.
