I would probably guess similar range I was looking in or a bit higher, I’ve heard a pair of OMA ac1 and also Fleetwood deville speakers, real nice stuff, but you can tell that you aren’t getting the best value, some of it really is the looks and design
Oh that’s really cool how that looks like you can tilt the tweeter and midrange panel, that would be helpful to have on other speakers too
Not sure what price it would be but if it’s still under the tekton name it might still be under a reasonable price since the creator was on Steve guttenberg’s podcast and he mentioned that he is planning to do super high end speakers, like quarter mil and higher but that he was gonna start doing those under a different name of course and not tekton, to still have tekton speakers be reasonably priced-ish.

I expected this decision to take longer lol
Huge congrats on the massive purchase my friend Can’t wait to read about it
I miss shooting the crap with my 2ch “twin” Hope you are doing well buddy.

Things are great, man. Did an update post a little while ago so that’s pretty much where I’m at with it. I should probably upgrade my phono and cart but I just end up spending money on records instead lol
This is a speaker discussion thread so I guess I could give some thoughts on the Linton 85’s. I think @Kron has been eyeing them too. I’m actively trying to be less critical and just enjoy things so don’t expect much here lol…
People love or hate these it seems like by reading the internets. Bass is emphasized and can be pretty bad honestly if the amp isn’t right. Positioning is pretty important ime which isn’t the popular opinion but again ime it’s pretty crucial. Get these two things dialled it and you get a warm relaxed speaker with organic mids and a rolled off treble. Staging is also really nice. I think a sub is beneficial but depending on the genre isn’t always necessary. Just a really enjoyable relaxing speaker to listen to.
Seems to be more people joining all the time
Thanks @don, I think I really need to go and hear a pair at the local store, they’ve got plenty of real nice gear there and it’d be nice to try something above the level of my q100s
Tbh, that’s how it should be. My goal is to see the allocation of my funds be towards music purchases in the foreseeable future
This is definitely a long-term long-game request, but I was wondering if I can get feedback for anyone that has heard 2ch setups for these brands before. I am curious about what these brands excel at and what they put less priority/weak at. Of course, I will try to demo when possible. It would be pretty absurd to buy blind at this price point, but wondering what you have heard before.

2channel all day. Even tho surround has been around forever, and its like 18.1 channel by now, there is something special about how the ears and brain perceive the 2 channel stereo space. Plus, I dont want to waste a bunch of power on satellite speakers, lol, I want to concentrate it all on those 2 pristine channels.
Has anyone got experience with integrating a sub with Magnepans? I love everything that mine do and I don’t necessarily want more bass (well, maybe a little) but I heard that a sub can help give a bit more depth to the sound and I’d also like them to reach a little lower I guess too so that they can shine just as well in electronic genres as they do with more natural genres.
I’m going to give the answer you don’t want to hear.
I personally have never heard sub integration done well with big planar speakers.
Now having said that I haven’t heard any in years, subs are better now, and I am particularly sensitive to discontinuities in the way a systems sounds. Martin Logan has mixed planar panels and dynamic drivers for years and I’ve never liked any of them, but many people do, so it’s probably just me.
If the panel is getting low enough you’d probably get away with it.
Short version is borrow a sub and try it, only you can answer that question.
Would agree, it’s almost impossible with estats imo, and with single panel planar speakers I can’t say I’ve heard one implemented in a coherent enough manner that didn’t get to me after extended listening. I do think I’ve heard subs integrated well with some of the planar speakers that have a bunch of planar drivers (or ribbon) as a line array but that’s not really common. But personally for things like maggies or ML, you kinda just need to go bigger speaker wise and hope it gives you the bass you are looking for imo (which it likely won’t)
That’s a shame, like I said it’s really close to where I’d want it to be so it may even be something that can be achieved with some different placement and treatment. I don’t think the Perreaux has a sub out anyway so I would have to do something like get a pre to integrate one in.
It’s definitely different from what I go for in terms of sound but it sounds so good I don’t want to give up what it does well
You would just get a sub with speaker level inputs
If you can easily try a sub, then it can be worth trying, I just don’t think it will be easy to get it sounding right
Figured I’d post it here as this seems interesting. Would love to try it out myself but no 2ch setup yet. Maybe you 2ch guys might be interested in this…
Basically, you send acoustic fields your contact info and speaker height info. They send you their foam technology to try out for 14 days in exchange for a 2-3 min video on your honest thoughts (with specific guidelines from them). It might be a great opportunity to try out some potentially top-notch treatment. From my understanding, they’ve designed their foam technology specifically for voice so there’s no over-absorption resulting in deadness.
