Can we stop everything and talk for a sec on how awesome the D8KP are? Underrated in my opinion in our hobby or maybe I was just living under a rock.
It does require that you turn it up a notch more than usual but its sound is unique imo, it’s not laid back Susvara but it’s also not punch-slam Utopia or 1266, it’s not super warm Meze and ZMF and it’s definitely different than Sennheiser and Audeze. Just really its own thing in my audio experiences memory book but also a little bit of all of the ones I mentioned.
I have only the LE since @Thibf sold the regular version and I had to ship it quite quickly.
Can’t say much about the sound differences other than there are some but they are not huge. I can say for certain the new pads are much more comfortable and the whole design of the LE feels on another level. With dealer pricing the difference to me is worth it even if the sound is mostly the same.
I will try and get another regular Pro one day to have more time to compare.
So there are differences between the LE and non-LE? I remember we were speculating when it was announced. Im glad the LE is just as striking as when it was announced.
I don’t know how I avoided doing this until now, but if anyone has a BF2/64 + RNHP combo, it gives the D8KP a really nice low-end bump. Not as incisive as a higher-end combo, but the most fun ime.
"In the listening test, the new FINAL D8000 PRO LIMITED EDITION retains all the tonal virtues of the established model, but comes up with a slightly more generous stage image, which is probably due to the new ear pads. In my opinion, the spatial localization sharpness also improves slightly compared to the standard version, albeit with a minimal loss of airiness in the uppermost regions.
In addition, the new Japanese headphones – preferably in combination with the ZÄHL HM1 REFERENCE– act with a little more substance in the fundamental tone, which gives voices and instruments in particular a credible body at all times, without leaving the path of neutrality. In comparison, the D8000 PRO LIMITED EDITION plays with a slightly darker timbre, but never neglects the fine dynamic detail work in the sound-relevant midrange.
Since both ear loudspeakers do not sacrifice anything in terms of their outstanding bass qualities and no candidate can claim significant acoustic advantages in terms of resolution in the high-frequency range either, it is primarily up to the taste of the respective knight of the grail of fine tones, which of the two FINAL headphones he ultimately chooses preferred."
May be the wrong thread to ask about Final Audio IEMs.
While I am not a fan of IEMs, I want to give them another shot. Using Koss KSC75 on train rides does not work too well for isolation (or lack thereof) reasons.
So, in the 100 to 150€ range, are the A4000’s a good “beginners” IEM?
Once in a while I get this mental pause while listening and thinking that my D8KP LE is distorting, but then I understand it’s just so much texture and details from something I’m listening to. One second of emotional rollercoaster lol
Im borrowing a set of Final D8000 Pro LE from Mimic Audio right now and I gotta say, these are some big good. They are certainly more relaxed than the normal pro, but less so than i remember them being from hearing at canjam. Stage is more reminiscent of pro than OG, but a bit bigger than I remeber pro being as well. Detail level is absolutely a step higher than pro, and that propensity to get a little spicy for some things seems to be gone. Honestly, for 99% of people, these are what they should get and not sus. While the presentation is a little denser and less ethereal than sus, the image separation, grandure, timbre, etc are all there. Genuinely a shame that these are LE unless they are planning on comming out with a main line can thats even better.
So far while I’d say the mids are thicker than more prominent than the pro, it’s not as much as the susvara, but definitely a solid improvement from the mids of the pro. Currently my feelings on it are mixed, and I think that’s probably down to the source chains I have at this point. I could definitely see how one might prefer it over a susvara depending on chain though, it’s also a better all rounder than the pro
