Final audio thread, D8000 / Pro / X8000 / Sonorous II / III / IV / VI / VIII / X

It really is. I yolo’ed Elite with the excuse that I’d use it regularly for workday listening with electronic tunes, and I did for a while, but I feel like D8KP LE eclipses it in nearly every way. Elite is still more comfortable, but I’ve worn the Final for 10+ hour workdays since it got here, and it’s not killing my neck. It has instantly catapulted into favorites territory alongside Atrium, Susvara, and [soon] Caldera.

Too bad they stuck with the same silver cable as with the non-le… that cable sucks imo lol

It’s unfortunate that they only made this limited. I wonder if they’ll allow sale of the LE pads on their own

That’s awesome. I may have to look into this one.

thats why you get a custom colaboration cable from DHC and Viking weave cables

They are going to make some but it will also be limited. Ive already asked for 3 sets. The fact that they are technicaly paper still kinda worries me tbh…

How in the world are you going to go through four sets of pads?

just a hoarder

Remove one out of the four digits and I’ll buy (preferably the first one) :joy:

:eyes::eyes::eyes:

It’s actually three digits from what I saw

Oh cool, seems like a nice option then. I already use a dana with mine but am more interested in the pairing with a brise (given how much I like how it’s tuned)

Cprrect! It’s super reasonable tbh.

any thoughts on burn in time for the D8K?
it’s a tiny wee bit clampy, I’m guessing that’s by design with the pads and get the right seal for the bass. Does that loosen a bit?

I didn’t get mine new but fwiw it took me about 3 days to acclimate to the d8kp for some weird reason
Of course, ymmv but my brain had a slower time processing the signature and I don’t know why
I was not too fond of it for the first few days, as for burn-in can’t say since it was used
I personally don’t have a problem with clamp, but my head is on the small side

interesting, what didn’t you like and eventually got over/used to?

It basically sounded like a wonky-ass planar that was tuned poorly (honky, shouty, harsh)
First impression was pretty bad then one day everything just clicked and I was enjoying it
Didn’t hear any of the wonkiness again after and, to clarify, I didn’t change anything in the system
But I may be in the minority here, it was a really weird experience lol

My initial adjustment was weird since, for open-back planars, I was coming from a previously owned Arya v2 which presentation-wise had a lot of height but was a bit “shallow”. The D8KP on the other hand felt initially very narrow, with vague center-image, but very extended on the x-axis. Everything opened up after a few days as I got used to the headphone.

It was one of the few headphones it took me a day or two to get.
At the time I put it down to it being the first good planar I’d owned, the stage to me was hyper focused, and it felt very unnatural, but once I got it, I just don’t hear any of that anymore. I did get the Bass as special right away, and I still feel that way about the headphone.
I’m not sure if that was because of burn in or brain burn in.

I’ve enjoyed the pairing of my Pro with the LTA Ultralinear +. They kind of have similar sonic characteristics and in such do not detract from the other’s strengths. I actually spent some time listening to the combination but with the mid forward and body characteristics of the Mojo B4B, and it’s been the best HP experience I’ve ever had.

I can see that. I’m really really impressed by the D8K and LTA combo. I will say though, it doesn’t feel very planar to me. Don’t know if that makes sense. Still learning the sonic characteristics of those headphones though

Similar story here. Things like sus I find take a bit to understand but d8kp was more dramatic. Kinda like my brain had to click into place for what it was doing. It didn’t take nearly as long as it took for mest, but my brain still had to like reconfigure its self or something
