I had the IV and it was pretty boomy as well, the treble is fine for me but I’m also someone who likes audio Technica
Also 299USD seems a bit high for it I think I got my IV used for that price as well

The D8000 Pro seems to be a very universally liked can, came here to do some reading and not a single post on it. lol
I will say that it’s the most complete headphone I’ve listened to. No, haven’t heard the Utopia or the Sus or the 1266 so I’ve no direct comparison other than reading stuff here. Hopefully going to my first show will allow me to at least put ears on some of them.
I’ll get around to posting some impressions on it over the holidays but will say they’ve been the reason I’ve been able to pull the plug on everything headphone I had and settle on theeeese (shaky came flashback) lol
Pretty sure we have a dedicated d8kp thread… probably worth merging maybe?
I think we were talking about that wonderful headphone here:
Weird, did not show up, maybe because I was looking for the full name of the company. Hey, at least I’ve got some reading material now. thanks.
Yeah should be merged.
The d8kp is wonderful though, I really enjoyed my time with it on loan. Out of all the planars that I could add to my setup it would probably be at the top of the list.
Top of my list to try because of all I read about its bass presentation detail texture etc
As someone who prioritizes those frequencies and with the type of music I listen to I have extremely high expectations
Chiming in here before the m e r g e.
If I were to sum up the D8KP, it would be “grand”. It’s not overtly bassy like the biocellulose cans are; I wouldn’t even consider it a “basshead” set, but what’s there is really tastefully done with its very uncanny, naturalistic moments. I like it more for orchestral and jazz than I do the Sus.
I will say though, I hate having to readjust the height every time I hold the headphone in a certain way. I need some clip solution.
Well @DanMellinger @SpeleoFool and myself all have the d8000 pro LE incoming so hopefully some more posts soon. @Thibf also had d8kp (mine)
Are there any sonic differences?
Yes. Updated driver and pads. Initial impressions are slightly higher technicalities with a tuning between d8kp and d8k
Wasnt aware there’s a different tuning between the two
Could be pretty compelling if that’s the case, I’d think
That’s sounds pretty sweet. They look gorgeous too.
It’s not a problem for me, but I’ve seen someone use some tape around the slider if you wanted a more quick solution
Anyone with actual listening time that can compare the D8KP to the new Limited Edition?
@SpeleoFool maybe you?
@DanMellinger ?
Mimic cables and zeos both have them side by side but I think that’s it so far
I don’t have enough experience with other Final 8k family cans to offer comparisons, but did have just enough to seize the opportunity to jump on LE without hesitation. I got #004.

The case makes an immediate impression. While the Meze case is impressive, it doesn’t feel particularly robust–I’m still waiting for the day a moment of inattention puts a ding in the aluminum; I got a messenger bag to carry it around in for added protection. The Final case, meanwhile, is overbuilt and comes with actual TSA locks and a key! I’m not sure I’m willing to check it, but if my hand were forced I’m confident it would survive–it’s a tank!
The headphone comes with a comically long silver cable terminated in XLR, and a shorter 4.4 cable that’s the perfect size for portable or desk use. The silver cable has gotta be like 3m! I could literally use it as a jumprope!

While I think Susvara still edges this out in a couple areas, D8KP LE is a worthy competitor with a few advantages of its own. The Final is a little less laid back / polite and I like it better for all flavors of electronic music. It’s also much easier to drive–I’ve run it off of SP2000 with Roon, and it’s my new favorite portable setup (provided open back works).
The first things to jump out at me are spectacularly precise imaging and total separation of sound elements. At the price point, I feel like they leave Elite in the dust. They’re much more evenly matched with Susvara, though as is typical with summit gear, preferences and use case will likely dictate which one any given listener will like more.
Susvara is more comfortable. I feel it’s also more accurate (more natural timbre / tonality), but not by a large enough margin to matter much. Both have superb dynamics. Both come across as neutral tunings.
D8KP is a bit punchier, without being over the top about it like 1266, for example. It’s a bit more “lean and clean” than Elite without ever sounding thin or sterile or clinical. Build quality is in a league of its own with only Meze coming close in terms of fit and finish.
Listening fatigue is pretty much non-existent, despite the liveliness. The presentation is stunningly clean and devoid of anything that’s not music. The air feels like empty space, yet D8KP renders even complicated, congested tracks with ease. Treble control is impressive, balancing complete precise detail without ever sounding too sharp. Stage isn’t huge, but also not too intimate. Vocals are up front and full of detail.
All in all, this is a seriously impressive headphone–truly a jewel of my collection, and one well worth checking out if opportunity presents.

I put together a playlist of tracks for D8KP LE–mostly a bunch of highlights from recent listening. It starts out with some blues, throws in a few tracks with great vocals, and rounds out with tons of electronic stuff well suited as background music (since most of my listening time is while working, after all). The set is curated for a continuous listening experience (just hit play and let it go), and runs a little over 3 hours.

@SpeleoFool I hate you. Thank you.
Man, that sounds really good.
