I should listen to mine soon too.
I picked up a EC studio B to see how it plays with it. Going to be fun to see how the Nutopia, D8KP LE, and V2 play off the EC vs the same lineup plus Sus off the Envy.
Will be very interested in your impressions of the EC-B vs Envy
Same lol. Envy should pull ahead but weâll see. The only thing I know the EC wonât do is drive the sus. But if the D8kp LE works for me I may not need the power.
Both being 300b amps will be fun too.
I request impressions ASAP. Any mods on the Studio B or still stock?
Its Karangovils, so stock (I guess?). I donât have it yet. Iâll use my Elrogs thatâs in the envy so itâll be a decent comparison.
Not sure what to expect from the D8kp or EC.
Can be hard to beat Susvara at times. Itâll be interesting.
@Souldriver you sold your EC, right? Wouldâve been cool to see your thoughts too.
Nope, I still have my EC. It balances well and adds backbone to the more lush (I shouldnt say lush, but maybe easy going? Calm?) leaning antipodes, and mojo dac. But I am always interested in otherâs first takes on the EC.
I have the WE 300bs in mine, currently with the bendix driver, and fat base mullard recti. I was tempted to buy Karanâs Elrogs and i am interested in them and EMLs but i want to curb spending a bit, or at least until some other gear sells. I also really smaller, cheaper easier mods to the EC would go further. Mainly I want to swap the volume pot and/or gey a full bypass in there.
Nice! Yeah I was interested in his Elrogs too but just missed them/they sold. Those being the MOs theyâre more detailed than the ERs that I have. I still enjoy these tho.
Hopefully itâll be an enjoyable experience.
Whatâs the break in like for these (D8KP LE)?
Anyone notice a change?
Donât know if I could give an hour range but a few days at least for the regular pro imo. Generally felt more bright and closed in beforehand, was a bit iffy to me at first
Ok cool. In comparison to the sus these are a little harsh off the bat. Especially with rock. Bass isnât wowing me yet either. Obviously need more time.
There are some really good traits so far. And luckily I donât find the mids too bad.
Ah yes bass took some time too, I really wasnât impressed at first, but with more time you really start to get the specialness in texture in the bass, although that one might have been more on the brain/acclimation side of things
Sus seems to have more air. Better layering and room to breathe. Maybe this will improve as well.
Iâd say this is quite accurate.
As for burn in - I left mine in for about 100hrs to begin with I think
Still burning in and not a guarantee keeper but Iâm curious as to what aftermarket cables are best for these? This silver stock cable is a chunk haha.
I used it with prion4 and liked it, also tried the mimic/viking weave/DHC Collab and that was very nice
Just need to make sure the connectors are long enough to fit due to the locking part, right? So you have to be a little careful about what you use?
Yes. I have the universal 3.5mm so they fit perfectly and can be used with Susvara and LE easily
Iâm personally a big fan of the brise, excellent for both the le and pro, really great for having an overall really well balanced and refined/mature sound in pairing, much better than stock. It sorta just gets out of the way and really enhances the overall organicness and liquidity without messing with anything else really, very balanced tonally. I think spatially itâs also very balanced, slightly depth focused perhaps. Dynamically I do think it takes a bit of a focus on micro but also improves macro at the same time so nothing to really complain about there either lol. On the cheaper side of things the lavricables grand is a nice upgrade over stock and has some of the characteristics that I really like about the brise scaled down a fair bit.
Would also agree with @orrman on the prion4, not my first choice but I do like what it has to offer in raw technical performance alongside a more energetic and open sounding focus. More technical than the brise but feels less balanced. I did think it was a bit much on the regular pro, but I think with the le it doesnât cross that line.
I so far have only briefly tried my danacable on there, but itâs pretty promising as well, although absolutely a warmer lean than the aforementioned, but more technical than all, but need more time to fully say.
Mixed feelings on the comfort of these (D8KP LE). Feel they have a strong clamp and sometimes it bothers me and other times they somewhat disappear. This has been a hit and miss at times. Susvara is more comfortable to me.
If these had a touch more air and space to work in a larger stage it would be pretty great. Still would be lacking in the layering but maybe that stage and air would assist with that.
The reverb of notes just fill up the space and while itâs a cool experience I canât help but sometimes feel itâs overpowering some details and layering that I know are there. This isnât with every track but maybe half the time? This is in comparison to the Sus, because as a stand alone theyâre pretty good if you can get past the comfort issues at times and the issues mentioned above.
Also I donât always feel the texture in the bass is much better than the Sus. Iâve had many situations where thereâs a powerful upright bass and the Sus feels like itâs more textured and goes lower.
(This has been off the Envy and Bliss)
