Final audio thread, D8000 / Pro / X8000 / Sonorous II / III / IV / VI / VIII / X

Donno, I was surprised as well. I guess the original D8000 didn’t have it, the Pro does, the LE has it to a much lesser extent. If I had to guess it could just be down to how they ended up tweaking that same driver in the LE, not sure in what exact ways. I guess the closer you go to the D8000 in overall voicing characteristics, the less texture and shape you get despite being the same driver? Could be a distortion and harmonics design thing? I don’t know if I’d say the dryer the more textured, I guess I could somewhat agree that texture can be a bit more apparent on a dryer headphone, but on the right chain you can have something very rich yet very textured as well, so I don’t think it’s as simple as that.

For the most part yeah, and I’d also say both are at the same level of the utopia and also slightly above the 1266 lol.

Anyone here try the bryston and D8KP combo? I think its pretty good with the LE.

I’ll still need to go back to the MJ3 after some time to see how it compares but this is pretty nice so far. No complaints.

(if this should be more in the bryston thread, feel free to move it but I’ll keep this geared towards D8KP here)

It sucks via single ended 6.3mm. But very strong balanced. (dual cable) I never tried it with a 4 pin but it should be the same. But of course that’s an issue with the Bryston not the 8KP.

Yeah for sure. I’m using xlr.

I need to get a xlr cable for my 800… but the utopia and D8KP are enjoyable so far using xlr.

Would second that, great pairing with the Pro especially with a balanced brise cable, never tried with the LE though

That amp really does well with some of the more efficient planar and most dynamics from my experience, only really is more lackluster with harder to drive planar

Been a while, now seven months since getting the D8KP and Still absolutely loving it as a companion to my Utopia. It’s been said countless times in this thread already but there is just something special about the bass reproduction and texture/shape these are able to produce, really addicting. I now have adapters and using my Brise Mikumari Ref.2 with them since 3-4 months or so and it has made them sound even better with overall tighter grip and control and increased texture and bass impact without tilting the balance or changing the overall sound.

Love it, and running off of tubes! EC Studio B + Lampi Baltic 3

The brise is a really nice pairing, I second that :ok_hand: (and no it’s not because I’ve bought a bunch of brise cables lol)

I just realised I like how the yggy+rnhp sounds with d8kple more than yggy+v550, it has better synergy and more soul.

Gives me proper treble bite and quality while being smooth it just sounds right, the staging of the rnhp plays better with this hp like im in a bubble of sound without gaps rather than the hazy feel of v550. Timber is better, dynamics and punch are all there.

This little amp just scales with better dacs (gumby\yggy) the bf2 is a bottleneck in comparison.

It’s sitting as the main amp for the d8kp and v550 is turned off.

I recently had a Mojo X connected to the RNHP and it did wonderfully with it. I’m eventually going to get back into the D8KP and will stay with RNHP for a good bit as the next upgrade would be the DAC.

Maybe ill try it on the bf2>rnhp, or bring the rnhp up to the mojo x and see how it fares.

Were there any impressions of the washi pads from the LE with the pro? Is it worth the alternative or did it sound off to those who’ve tried it?

According to Final that’s the only difference to the LE outside the color.

Makes me wanna try the non LE pads to see lol

No driver tuning?

The only changes are different color way and pads.

“Meanwhile, the structural and acoustic design of the driver, and dedicated housing construction, which optimizes sound quality and is highly acclaimed worldwide, have been retained.”

I havent heard them outside the LE but from the impressions of those who have that would be a significant sound difference for just pads.

I mean, Final could be lying about it on their product page.

They get pretty explicit about it on the same page but it is interesting that a lot of users seem to call out a bigger difference.

The D8000 Pro Limited Edition is adopting the exact same AFDS driver and structural design as the D8000 Pro Edition and therefore it possesses the same sonic characteristic. However, due to the newly designed earpads which have different air permeability, users can expect slightly different when out of the box but the difference would fade away after the earpads become slightly softer with use.
