Would look good, too!! Similar colorway and design, and same width.
same size as TT2 as well
Oh, that’s cool. You could do a half width triple stack with a TT2. Like the Abyss stack .
I was going to make a “Ferrum Stack” but for now the side-by-side works while learning how much heat they put out. From what I’ve heard, it is that side-by-side is best.
Also, I tired it for grins n giggles, they will fit side-by-side on top of the Spring 3 KTE if I get inclined to go that direction.
Looks good!!
I understand the amp, but the spring gets hot too? Or at least got enough that you don’t want to stack them?
GZ! Excited to hear your impressions with your Susvara (if you’re comfortable sharing ofc), been considering this stack for a little while now myself. Anyways, enjoy the new gear!
Looking good!
Yeah, the spring 3 gets pretty warm enough to where I’d hesitate putting something on top that has little clearance. You’d probably be fine though if you HAD to stack something.
So you got rid of the v550?
It gets warm, not hot. My thermometer of hot would be a tube amp. Those can get hot to the touch. The Spring (Holo Audio DAC’s in general) run warm, the Ferrum Stack runs warmer (a 7 on a 10 scale - 5 is warm & a 10 you remove your hand from immediately for clarification).
Like the others have indicated - the Spring 3 gets warm but nothing that causes me alarm or would prevent me from stacking, if there was a half inch clearance or so. My reason for not wanting to stack is more vanity related - I don’t like how rubber feet leave marks on gear.
I’ll be sure to let you know, the Susvara is the reason I wanted to give this amp a listen. I thought you listened to the Orr w/Hypsos at CanJam and is why you bought the Sus?
Thanks!
Oh hell no! It’s sitting on the other desk at the moment w/o a DAC. (Open to a loaner DAC… jk )
Oh that was Eskamobob1, not me. Though the Susvara has really impressed me in the last few weeks just off of my jot2.
Haha. Yah it was. It was the crazy separation that realy blew my socks off tbh
That’s not vanity- it’s resale value!!
The Holo Audio devices are too attractive to cover up anyway. Especially the KTE versions.
Congrats on the new amp and chain!
You can always fold and put a cool bandana or other cloth there to keep the marks away. Or be cheap like me and cut little paper towel squares just for the feet.
I personally like using shelf liner (that grippy stuff with the beads in a grid pattern that you put in cabinets) because it makes sure things don’t move around, provides some isolation, and prevents marks/damage on other gear. Also typically looks a little less intrusive than other options imo (pretty easy to cut nice shapes too)
I wish they continued with Bert’s reviews. They’re so much fun to watch.
Alcohol, Goo Gone, Elbow Grease, get yourself all three of them and there ain’t a rubber foot mark you can’t wipe off.
I am without a doubt doing one of these, or a similar DIY option over the weekend. The more homemade and “hardware store” the better.
Maybe parchment paper? Coffee filters cut into circles?
Great for lining tool cabinets so the tools dont slide around pulling the shelf in and out. They also come in all your favorite colors. Black, grey, drab green, ugly tan!
Dont forget felt
