Currently in NYC for the show. Listening to the new Kurogaki.

First impressions, it sounds better than M50x I guess.

Was this a pre-canjam event? Do they have the amp there as well?

You had to schedule for the amp, I’m listening to it on Sunday

I didn’t like that one haha. There was some grain in the top end and sounded a bit hollow? Not a good environment for listening with all that background noise but I wasn’t a fan. However I only heard it off that AK dap, not a proper amp

25th anniversary Envy looks good. Prob not worth the price for the upgrades they did but it’s looks good. Not sure what Elrogs those are, would hope TM for the price.

Edit: Not TMs, prob ERs as I doubt they threw in MOs.

Its big bad. The agis zmf thing outright outperforms it

Interesting. So it’s that bad? Bad for the price or just bad? Worse than the normal version?

I don’t think it’s that bad as @Draaly 's hot take would suggest. It’s definitely a lot better than the original, it’s still not competing at the level of the top options for Susvara (which we both tested together on) at this price.
The tubes are the entry level in that Elrog range, according to Lukazs (that we spoke with when listening) the MO wasn’t a good fit in it because of treble extension synergy problems. They don’t get a serious discount from Elrog either because it’s only 50 tubes made for them so that’s a good portion of the cost.

Would love some recap posts over the next few days on your guys thoughts on new gear or gear you haven’t heard before. I would love to go to a canjam with 0 people. I imagine the perfect scenario is showing up to CJ at 3 am with everything setup and no people there including the reps and I can freely wonder and demo. We can all dream :man_shrugging:

I posted my show impressions here (head-fi username is Cangle):

I don’t take notes at the show, which I should probably do next time, so most of my summaries are pretty brief.

Here’s some other highlights from the weekend though:
Stax SR-007 mk2, really enjoyed this was great on the Stax SRM-400S and on the Viva STX too. One of my favorite headphones for vocals at the moment and it impresses me each time I hear it.
Diana MR, my favorite sounding Abyss headphone, just a really easy to listen to headphone.
Hiby RS8, impressed by detail, texture, and imaging on this DAP vs my dx320.
Canpur 622b, the most detailed IEM I’ve heard, reminded me of an estat in how it presents detail and treble information. Nice and controlled bass response too.
ZMF Decware OTL, just a really nice amp to use, curious how it pairs with some of the sennheiser headphones though. I’m tempted to pick one up and also use it as a preamp into a SIT-3 or other speaker amp.

The lack of yammy presence makes me a bit sad :smiling_face_with_tear:
