He’ll just tell you that you used the wrong jeep, it’s too old and that’s why it didn’t hold up
Pretty much same. It’s better than tc for me and I did like it, but I think I’ve come around to just preferring to have other stuff at Tha price
Sounds very apple-like, which I assume is what Abyss is going for
At Canjam I tried someone’s Diana V2 that was a couple years old so I assume it’s similar to these warehouse sale Diana’s and I tried The Diana TC both off of my DX320 dap. The Diana TC didn’t fit as well as the v2 for some reason. I had a huge gap at the bottom of my ear. And I found them a bit too thin and detailed for my tastes. Which is why I jumped on the Diana V2 sale since I preferred that version of Diana.
The V2s fit well for me, the pad touches the side of my face all around. Lifting the pad does add some bass bloom at the expense of texture and extension. The ported pads are fun but do lack some sub bass extension but don’t seem to hurt the texture too much. I think the stock pads are probably better unless you really want extra bass which sometimes I do.
You get any compression or congestion on vocals at times? It’s not always, just occasional and more when there’s a lot going on in the track.
Also coulda been me last night when I tried them out for a bit before bed.
And I really like these off the mojo2+poly. Even with the mojo I still feel these have plenty of bass with the stock pads. Reading headfi and other places I feel I have a different headphone
No, but I’m hearing some detail in tracks I haven’t really heard before or weren’t super obvious with other headphones. I’ve confirmed some of those details with susvara just to make sure the headphone wasn’t doing anything funny. Maybe find a repeatable section with distortion and test with another headphone to see if it’s the track or not?
Or I can try a track for you that sounds funny to you with your Dianas and let you know what I hear.
Yeah it very well could be the track(s) or certain areas of the track.
I’ve been analyzing like crazy lately. With a new amp, new tubes, and now these. Need a chill secession for sure haha.
These are a solid pick up at the sale price. I’ll give them that for sure.
Quick Diana V2 and 1266 comparison. Chain is Bricasti MC1 → LTA pre level 2 → Firstwatt F8
- Similar tuning, same house sound
- 1266 sounds more open and has more air around instruments. Diana presents more up front like you’re in the studio / front row
- 1266 bass has more sub bass emphasis and rumble in that region. Diana bass is pretty flat but well extended. With the ported diana pads you get more mid bass energy which is fun and I think I prefer those.
- 1266 has more decay and resolution but not by much
- 1266 handles bad recordings a bit better then Diana
- Diana is way more comfortable
v2 is a steal for the price I paid. 1266 is 2.5x more but maybe 1.5x better depending on the track.
1266 is more capable but the v2 is much easier to use so that’s a trade off I’m willing to make.
I definitely agree about the quality of the track piece. These let you know and that’s unique being a warmer headphone. I think it threw me off at first.
Do you think these change at all with some burn in?
And I guess I’m in the minority here or mine is different, because I feel the bass is solid even with the stock pads. Maybe it’s the way they fit me? At first I was thinking it’s due to the envy or bliss but then I used the mojo2+Poly today for a good while and really enjoyed these.
For comfort, I think bending the headband a little definitely helps. And according to them it’s ok to do. That helped relieve some of the pressure on the temple area.
Does anyone know a 2.5mm connector that will work with these? I want to reterminate a cable that has 3.5mm.
you can get extended 2.5mm connectors that will work (think like the ones used for rad-0, but 2.5)
Ok cool. Just looking where I can buy just the connectors. I’ll see what I can find.
I wonder if these will work? They look thin enough, but I’m not sure if the locking portion would affect the fit.
Look for 2.5mm phono jack on Mouser. It’s what I used on mine. The opening in the headphone shell for the connector is really small. Pretty much the only thing you can do is put heatshrink across the wire and connector body. Anything else will be too wide in diameter to insert.
Thanks!
I see where arctic cables has a V2 option but no picture or anything.
I wonder if ole Joe will sell me their connectors…
Sure. For $150. They’re like $5 on Mouser.
I agree with you on that
Probably? But I always listen through the burn in.
Hahaha you think Joe will do us in the community like that?
Nah…
I have 2
