Funny I just got in that Nouvelle Vague CD yesterday.
It is a fun twist on familiar songs. Listened to it on youtube a few times, then threw that on my wishlist…
half a year later, I decided that whishlist of stuff needed to be cleared out eventually.
Sooooo, I did a thing. Got me a JCAT XE EVO
I’m pairing it with a chinesium LPS from Amazon for the time being to evaluate it. It’s just the card itself; no master clock…yet.
I am floored. I wasn’t expecting the jump that this made. Somehow, someway, this made a VAST improvement in the soundstage and imaging. Immersive. Spherical. Transient response is more pronounced. Everything is definitely clearer.
I’m getting a kick out switching back to mobo USB just to laugh at the difference.
On some songs, I tell myself
“Wow, is this what the Amber can actually do?”
Or
“This song sounds like I’m listening to them on speakers”
Now, I’m asking myself, there’s no way the sound can get better from here right? How big of a difference could a proper LPS bring? I will say the used market is dry on that so far, but I am looking.

A little better but not vast, you’ve already gotten most of the bang. A good PS and good cable will help you get more out of it and fine tune characteristics one way or another, a lean not a push.

Some great movies there! Of course The Godfather is a classic and on the all time tops list, and Oppenheimer, The Imitation Game, and Oblivion are also excellent. Have you seen them before?
As to the CDs, not so sure about your choice of Nickleback!

Have seen all except Worlds End and Imitation Game.
I would claim the Nickelback album is ragebait, however, it reminds me so much of their “Here and Now”-Album, had to have it.

Oblivion is actually one of my favorite movies, especially in the post-apocalyptic genre. Very few people seem to know about it.
Also really need to watch Godfather soon.
