What have you purchased recently?

In the Boston area

Yes, it really is. I wonder if this is a variation on ‘A Boy Named Sue’.

If I can hold off my excitement and save up some funds, I want to hit up one of the big east coast shows next year and maybe come home with a pair of “next level” for me speakers by saving one of these manufacturers the trouble of dragging them back home themselves :smiling_imp:

Devore micr/0 replacing the harbeth P3.

Had them here for a week now and they have less girth through the middle than the p3 and are snappier. They throw a large image regardless of how much toe in they have.

I think the wellfloats isolate too much and rob the micr/0 of some of their punch, still playing with around with different footers etc.

Stillpoint aperatures had a positive impact with the P3 but yet to remove them to see how the micr/0 sound without.

At some stage I will try setting them into larger boxes, pseudo bookcases on either side of the monitor to see what impact that has.

Small format CNC router / engraver machine. A lot of these exist with partial metal frames, there are a few that are fully metal and with proper spindle motors so much more stable and useful. Should be able to handle aluminium as well as wood and perspex.

I have so many things I want to CNC now.

Oh and also optionally can accommodate a laser engraving head later.

I bought a new set of Harmony Pads for my Susvara.
Existing pads were at least 3 years old, and looked fine, but basically fell apart when removed.
New pads fell very different, and a surprisingly large improvement from the new pads.

I guess lesson learned don’t assume because the pads look OK they are pristine.

Just wear eye protection, at some point you will misplace a decimal point, shatter a carbide endmill and be surprised how far and with how much force they get hurled when that happens. I had a 1/8 inch carbide end mill thrown 20 ft across my garage, and embed itself in the drywall.
It’s less of an issue machining wood, they tend to fail less dramatically.

Like all other tools, treat it like it can hurt you and the risks are minimal.

If you are machining aluminum, you need to be very conservative in depth of cut just run tests, and bear in mind not all Aluminum is the same.

Yes I agree! Always, always do. I also often use stab proof gloves. Partner says I am too important to be out injured so I promised to be careful. Already had a drill bit ping across the garage. I reach back into the depths of time to remember the machine tool lessons we had at school. Don’t know how it is/was in other times and places but in 1980s UK secondary schools all boys and girls learnt to use woodworking, metalworking machines as well as sewing machines and to cook at school. Was amazing and I still regularly use things I learnt. Partner is very jealous as in her Belgian school the girls only got to learn knitting and sewing.

In NY the house keeping classes were mandatory for all. Woodshop, CM, CAD, Autoshop, were all optional electives.

It’s here!!
Absolutely impeccable shipping by the seller, thank you @keithc for arranging the introduction!

It’s plugged in, warming up but I made sure everything’s working.

@Souldriver it says clearly on the back 3A for US and it actually came with a 3A fuse (I checked to make sure in case I needed to switch it to any of the fuses I bought from Amazon).

Still waiting for the new amp, rack and power conditioner. This will play with my whimpy SMSL amp for now :see_no_evil:

Just picked this up, 1st Gen WA22. Was saving for an MJ3, but this popped up on eBay the other day - impulse buy! The kind gentleman damn near threw in all the tubes for nothing. Just got home and I feel bad for the guy; this selection of tubes must of cost some coin!

HEkse seems to like it. Playing nice with the Gumby too. Sounds… real good.

Some of those tubes are a few hundred, so i think you did just fine.
