Socket savers came in. These come in handy with the recessed sockets on the envy.
That looks really sweet how everything matches.
This just arrived, trying tube rolling for the first time lmao.
Edit: lol it’s sucks but I have no frame of reference. I don’t think I’ve listened to a sub 500 amp in the past 3 years, so maybe it’s great for the price
lol, I actually have the Vali 2++ in house as well, and while I prefer it to the Piety, yeah, it’s still a $100 amp.
Also, the ZMFs I’ve used are surprisingly sensitive: I feel like my Eikon picks up all the RF interference in high-gain in a way that something like an HD600 totally doesn’t.
Thanks @Veritas !
A chunky JPS Labs The Power AC cable.
Dang, it came early, nice! Enjoy. The cable is thicccc
As recommended by @karangovil
The red tip should indicate that it is a higher grade and was possibly marked for the Sperry Gyroscopes.
According to Brent this is better than the WE396A so I’m keen to see what you make of them. I’m still burning in my WE396A that I got last week.
Caveat: recently swapped amps to the crayon, no other hps were tried besides the mysphere
First impression: weird hp, i can see why there are such polarizing impressions. Half of the time I’m impressed, and half of the time I’m disappointed lol. I definitely need to give this time…
Standouts: openness, stage depth, treble, tone/timbre (especially piano), hands-down the most comfortable hp I’ve put on my head
Really nice looking.
Are you not using the stock cables?
for me the yammy are the sexiest HPs yet… The zmf woods are like furniture where this looks like a futuristic weapon.
Nah, I’ll try them out eventually. The danacable works with the adapters so I’d rather have a more even playing field right off the bat, less bottlenecks
They actually don’t “feel” all that premium but I guess that’s just the nature of the material they use. If you’re familiar with the senn 800s you’ll feel right at home, ergonomics-wise
800/800s is the headphone that first comes to mind when seeing these. VERY cool looking and probably top end sound as well
I had been thinking about this since December and more recently since this was listed again. Especially after listening to it at the CanJam, I was even more convinced and this definitely takes the 1266 and Susvara to next level.
Oh and no more CFA3 and likely soon will be saying goodbye to Studio B as well.
Congrats! I’m glad someone here picked it up. How’s the Utopia?
I know it’s not a fair comparison but will be interesting to hear impressions of the Egoista vs the Studio B
Love the little bison Safari Limited figure there. I bought a lot of those over the years for my kid that was big time into animals. Great quality.
Oh and congrats on the amp!
A headphone stand that actually looks nice. Do you mind sharing more info on the stand?
Thanks! I hadn’t been listening to the Utopia for a few weeks due to new Susvara but will be putting all the headphones through Viva over the next couple weeks. Initial impressions are everything is BIG. I don’t know if its the 845 tubes or something specific to this amp but this thing makes HD800S and 1266 even more grand.
Yup, will be doing a detailed comparison of two before I make up my mind to let Studio B go but I can already tell the stage and holographic nature of sound is another level on the Egoista.
Thanks I like to collect little animal figures from national parks and this one was from Yellowstone.
Sure, this was made by a local artist out of Philly. We worked together on the design (I gave her the headphone dimensions and we iterated), then chose the wood and resin (this is walnut and just some black resin to match the Abyss theme (I know its a cliché). She works with live wood and resin quite a bit and has some interesting stuff on her site. It was actually very reasonably priced too compared to the $500 stand Abyss stand that doesn’t even work for the 1266
