If I knew I will like the v550 more I could have done V550 for V281 with no extra money

Looks like the last one sold on head-fi for $1800, but it has had sales in the range of $1000-$2000. If I was selling a V281 today I’d probably list it for $1400 (seems to be the median price), and if no luck probably bump it down to $1200, but you would probably find a buyer at either of those prices since the V281 is still pretty well sought after. Just my 2 cents.

Going to post it for 1400$ and lower it until it sells like I do with all my selling gear. RNHP sold for 260$

I think you guys should try the V222. It’s a really good amplifier.
I have seen two users wanting to downgrade from V550 to V222. Also, a recent review pointed out the V222 pairs well with the Susvara. I have never heard the Susvara, but I know it takes a certain setup to make it shine and I can see why the V222 pairs well with it.
The V222 treble is not as airy and open as the V550. Treble is not aggressive or forward. The midrange is decent, not as sweet as the V281. The bass is just wonderful and the star of the show. Forward, tight, and hard-hitting. It would match open and airy headphones like Hifiman well or even TOLT headphones like Utopia. The best bass I have ever heard was with the Focal Clear OG+V222. Layered, strong, and thumpy. The soundstage is not as wide as the V281, and V550. Imaging and depth is really good thought.

(more lively) reminds me of how Asgard3 was better on high gain at exactly 8 oclock for me.
in that config volume is 8:30 and matched at volume 11 for 0db.

My soloist 3xp is getting little use and I wanted to know if I could sell that one and get a vio
The reason im looking at vio either 281 or 550 is because it was recommended to me for several headphones and it would be the only thing I have that can drive the he6se which is currently driven by the soloist.
I know its quite different from the soloist but I guess thats what I want, something better that can run he6se and also other headphones because im only using the soloist for the he6 currently which feels like a waste
@M0N do you think the mjolnir 3 could be another option for the same purpouse?
If you want to go for something with a focus on the he6, I’d stick with the vio personally. I do think things like the susvara actually sound good off the mj3, but if you’re comparing against a 550 I’d definitely go 550 instead for that headphone. I would say either the 550 or mj3 is a nice upgrade over the soloist imo

For the 550 I would have to save up a bit and if im paying 1700+ I might as well wait more and go for the pass labs hp1 but that leaves me with no amp for the he6se
So im strongly thinking mj3 rn and save me the higher tier amps for later

Go vio for sure then. I think they’re probably both equally good with the adx, but I’d rather have the utopia on the 550
Honestly the he6 off the pass isn’t bad lol, and for the other headphones I’d definitely rather have the pass

@MacDLaw PASS HPA-1 dollar for dollar used or new is a GREAT amplifier and for most general purpose work will be more than satisfactory, the damned thing does well across the board. 
If your front end is clean it will work just fine with your Exogal Comet, I have used it in that configuration many times and at used prices that combo hits VERY hard.
Lastly it does just fine with the HE6se’s, that HP just isn’t worth spending any more $$$$ on IMO🤷 you will be pleased overall and @Camus is selling his PASS HPA-1 currently for a solid price. The unit is 100% and has been babied… I know I’ve been to his house and seen it personally

My comparison v222 vs v550.
I wanted to send the v222 to Wavetheory since he has the v281 and had reviewed the v550, but I don’t trust how he handles the items LOL I might be a bit harsh on this statement, but If you have watched the Hifiman amp review he smacked the amp with the table.
