The Heavy Thread - metal, hardcore, and more

A thread dedicated to metal, hardcore, hard rock, and everything in between. This music isn’t for everyone and this is a way for metalheads to be able to go off without annoying the non-metal folk.

I’ve been loving this band. This is my favorite track of theirs. The breakdown is so cathartic to whisper-scream along to when stressed/angry.

Nice thread! Don’t see enough metalheads in audiophile communities. Been listening to this album a lot recently

Also discovered Ahab recently

Petition to change the title of the thread to say Metal Thread or include “Metal”?

Done.

Metal is probably most of my listening these days, I just love it so much.

I have a friend who has been recommending a lot of good stuff, I thought Trivium wasn’t very good for example until he showed me their older stuff. Which I quite enjoy.

Probably one of the better metalcore/deathcore albums made right here.

Can’t make an introductory post here without some Shadow Of Intent (warning flashing lights in music video)

I do t listen to much that is too heavy but I do enjoy some trap metal. Tool is probably the metal band I put serious listening time into but. I have had a recent appreciation of 2000’s hard rock/ numetal listening to some classics like psycho social, freak on a leash or the the whole Toxicity album. While Nu metal is largely kinda embarrassing to listen to for me it did produce some absolute gold

Still one of my favorite albums. What a classic.

Also I do enjoy some scarlxrd every once in a while. Good stuff!

The only banjocore song I’m aware of.

Loved this band for a while but just recently got back into Saloon and Handmade again hard. Both are so unbelievably catchy. They’ve got a new album coming out later this year with the original lineup back together finally.

This just dropped today. I was listening to the singles all week and pretty pumped for the whole album. Insomnium has been one of my favorite Finnish melodeath for a long time and will be seeing them with Enslaved in a month \m/

Banjo is one of my favorite instruments, just because it gets used mostly in bluegrass, mountain music, and country doesn’t mean it cannot be used outside of that. A very underused instrument in my opinion.
Also The Ongoing Concept is great, they have some really interesting stuff.

That’s awesome! I hope you have a blast! Insomnium is great, I love the drum work on this album. :ok_hand:

The regular video probably won’t load since it is restricted so I’m posting this one instead, but man… Alex Terrible has to be one of my favorite vocalists. This track just gets me so pumped up, perfect for pre-match or workouts.

Throwback to a couple songs that first got me into metal:

I know some people say Megaherz is cringe but Idc, I really enjoy their stuff. Zombieland is such a fun album to listen through.

I freaking love Sharon Den Adel’s voice, one of the greatest vocalists in all of metal. She just sounds so angelic. Definitely one of my favorite songs.

I’m so unbelievably disappointed with the new Pierce the Veil album. Listened to it once and likely won’t ever again. The only song I remember is the first single from last year, “Pass the Nirvana.”

So I’ve been listening to their last record, Misadventures a ton instead and forgot how much I love it. This is easily my favorite song from it and while it’s not heavy, I’m posting it here given their roots and the likelihood of people here being a fan more than in the regular music thread.

It’s a bit long IMO but still, I’ve been coming back to this more than I thought, really like how it sounds, especially the drums.

@Alb This is so heavy, I’m in love! :metal:

Here’s an album I have been grooving to recently:
Days Of The Lost - The Halo Effect
This album is awesome. I love me some In Flames, so to see these guys get together for a project like this is great! Here are a couple of my favorite tracks:

Just discovered these guys a couple weeks ago and really like them. They’re chaotic as hell and give me strong Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza vibes.

I still find it ridiculous how far ahead of it’s time this whole album was…

Thanks for the reminder that I need to give Fear Factory an honest shot. Is this the album to start with?

I think that one is their best…but Demanufacture and Digimortal are both pretty good too. Obsolete was a landmark album for them though. Edgecrusher, Descent, Resurrection and Cars (cover) are all amazing tracks from that album.
