Ordered one of these, will be very curious if it’s an actual successor to the omega or more inline with the current 009 models. Hopeful it’s the former lol
Admin note: Updated to include all stax models

So, seems like some massive delays in shipping according to a couple dealers I’ve talked to. Anyone know when we should actualy expect these to ship?
Don’t really know, haven’t heard anything and still waiting on mine, wish they would hurry up lol
Yah. My local dealer said they were told they would get a demo unit in the first shipment and apparently have been entierly ghosted by stax as far as time frame. Wasnt sure if anyone here had more info. Seems we are in a similar place on crbns too
Was this due to a common component in both electrostatic headphones (CRBN and Stax)? Or was it a coincidence?
These things are seriously fucking fantastic. I think ima try and figure out how to get my hands on a set
Maaaan, E-Stats are something I still haven’t tried but would love to listen to one!
@krack how much better than sus is it?
Bro I don’t even like sus
I know

@M0N honest question what is your impression of the original Omega if I may ask?
I would give one, but it’s really been so long I don’t know if I can lol, but it definitely doesn’t sound like modern stax imo
How is the timbre compared to Susvara?
On a comparable chain, I would say similar tier but a higher focus on clarity than body. That means that stuff like horns and woodwinds are a step up but a lot of richer vocals and bassier stringed instruments like upright bass and celo are probabaly a step back tbh
So it’s not a clear win for either, more of a strengths kind of thing?
Thanks.
in pure timbre I think its going to be more chain dependent than one being outright better than another.
So the vibe on the HF X9000 thread is depressing. Talks about how a lot of Stax cans suffer from some design problem and more specifically the X9K with the channel imbalance that seems to hit at random times (one immediately, one after close to a year) and replacement pairs takes many months to arrive (even after 9+ months of initial delivery time.)
Really torn if this is even a path worth pursuing or maybe better to save the time and money. Buying and selling these used is tricky and expensive. Makes this kind of a decision that I either dive in or skip altogether and stay in the dynamics and planar space
Stax have pretty good QC from my experience and the wait times are slowly getting better on the x9k. I really doubt you would have to go through 9 months of wait at this point (or even half of that). Any electrostatic headphone is a risk since they are more fragile than planars or dynamics, and channel imbalances aren’t unique to Stax.
While stax has def had some qc issues in the past (and apparently now), I’d say don’t let that put you off from going with one if that’s the sound you’re after because they’re pretty great
