You are welcome, it’s a simple thing that makes a lot of sense for comparisons, or simply changing a source and not needing to worry about a sudden boost of a few dB waking up the neighbors at 3am

I was reducing the volume on the td DAC to match the Sonic Frontiers Processor 3, then when the SFD-2 came back from service I needed a better solution as its output is far less than the other two.

If you come across any others with this feature, please let me know?

The LTA preamp can do this on each of it’s inputs:

Will let you know if I come across any other ones.

Damn that’s right, I borrowed an MZ3 for two months and liked it as a pre-amp too, downside was not enough inputs or the balanced to single ended conversion. Despite missing that feature, I enjoyed how it interacted within the source and amps.

The LTA preamp (not MZ3, the actual pre) has a balanced input so seems to cover both features you looked for

Thanks for the suggestion on the LTA Pre-amp, I considered this one while demoing the MZ3 and if it had balanced out it would be a contender for sure.

End-of-year photo shoot:

Very interesting to compare to this setup from almost exactly one year ago:

HPA V550, opticalRendu, and SGC LPS might be the only remaining pieces.

AC power has gone from ZeroSurge power strip → iFi Power Station (and various iFi cables/iPurifiers) → PS Audio PowerPlant 3.

DDC has gone from Denafrips Iris → Matrix X spdif 2 → Chord 2Yu → Sonore ultraDigital → Berkeley Alpha

DAC has gone from Denafrips Pontus 2 → Bifrost 2 → Chord Qutest → Yggy A2 OG. (Still have a Hugo2 sitting there as well, sourced from 2Go or BNC from Alpha USB.)

Headphone collection is now much smaller and more focused: Utopia, Expanse, Radiance, and HD6XX.

You can kinda see it sitting on the Yggy, I still have the ultraDigital for movie watching (Nvidia Shield → optical USB → ultraDigital → Yggy.

Still running Roon for media server, but switched to a lot more local FLAC files instead of all Qobuz streaming.

Overall a very good year for HiFi! Happy with my progress and current setup. I wonder want 2024 will hold for upgrades…

This is my brother-in-law’s setup. I was lucky enough to get to listen for a few hours today while our family got together. Those Altech Lansing A7 speakers blew my mind.

That is some cool “old school” gear, maybe someday you can give us a breakdown of what’s there? Awesome :+1:

There’s some legit vintage shit there! Very cool.

Cause I don’t see a DAC anywhere in that picture.

I see one, it is just built into the tv

I am still cleaning up and this is kust the part i made look pretty. The Mojo had to be moved way over as anticable’s 1m is a short 1m.

And here is the cable just making it

Why did you get a short interconnect???

@kerls i think you joined us after i built them but the shelf build is here. https://forum.sonusapparatus.com/t/diy-gear-shelving/1640

The desk is just a big formica wraparound desk/draw set i got when i was a kid. I just dont like that the heaviest part of the rig sits above where there is only support in the back. I put my power console in those draws that they made for keyboards that flip down. So it plugs in the back and buttons in the front.

Thank you! I spent too long looking at IKEA and Wayfair for a shelf that could work for my desk and resigned myself to needing to make my own and, with no plans to follow, no chance of it happening.

Feel like after months of not posting any pics of my set up and staying in the shadows I am posting it more often, and while it likely looks identical it is not. There are subtle changes in each one I post.

Here is tonight’s set up and have two very good members of SA to thank for how wonderful it sounds. Not to be a broken record as I have mentioned them in another thread, you two know who you are!

Wish it was not a thursday, with work tomorrow morning…Also wish it was not getting close to the time I have to shut down the speakers to not disturb folks in my building despite the low level listening.

I used to be a 100% speaker guy, I am talking for a few decades. Lost my love for them due to a variety of factors, got into headphones as they allowed me to continue to enjoy my favorite past time, and recently I have been listening to headphones less and less each week. To the point which the ratio is now 90:10!
