The first time I saw Brian Setzer live, it was at the Hollywood Bowl and I swear I ran into like 30 other swing dancers I knew in the audience, it was a really good time.

Rockna Wavelight. As I initially suspected when I first heard it many months ago. I like it in Linear phase but NOS isn’t bad either.

Yes linear is the way to go on there imo, hybrid is an awkward middleground, and nos is hit or miss but generally I think it does it’s best work on linear

Hybrid was what it was set to initially when I first got it and I immediately felt something was wrong. Took me a bit to cycle through the settings and fix it haha

I’d be more compelled to buy one over a may, absolutely better value lol (although I’d still argue in most respects the may does have better technical performance)

There are other other DACs I want but I’ve not yet had a Yggy and I don’t think I will ever stop wondering if I missed out until I get one myself. Will be nice to hear some fresh input from you regarding its sound with your system.
Is that an A2, or one of the new LIM / MIL variants ?

Well i was entierly joking but if you get your hands on them ill obviously quote happily read your impressions
Now that I have a 2ch setup that I feel is somewhat adequate to judge dacs on that level (although I think I would honestly need to upgrade my preamp and power amp first, not sure), I could get my hands on a horizon, a full ch precision stack, a full msb stack, and potentially one of the newer trinity dac as well if those are out yet. I could also get my hands on some other higher end dacs I don’t really care about but would be in a similar range but would rather not waste time and funds on that.
I don’t know if I could get all of them in at the same time though since most would be loans from friends, but we’ll see. Although I really have to judge if I want to take the next step because that’s going to be a lot of strain overall.
A big potential problem in this is that it would be with 2ch, and I simply don’t really have any other speakers on the level of what I’m currently running now, nor do I have other source gear that I think would be adequate outside of the ac and grandinote setups. So it would really end up being off one system and I don’t really know if the value is there for anyone else looking into it so it would be more for myself

Just FWIW Ill happily read whatever your write up regardless of caveats. Not to mention it would be the only comparo of its kind that I have ever seen not from a dealer that is just recomending their own products. Not like I’ll be in the market for that category fo dac for at least 5 years anyways so its just an entertainment thing for me anyways. 
Just a pure curiosity, what are your speaker amps currently? The grandinote demone? TBH I had always just assumed you had a propper nuts 2ch system that you just didnt talk about (kinda like your estats you had for a while)
I don’t really know if I’ll do something like that just for entertainment because I know I’m either going to end up spending a lot more money than I should, or come away incredibly surprised lol. I think I’ll for the most part stick to what I have since I already feel pretty content with it, don’t see an immediate need to ruin that contentment for now

Sounds like the sensible plan. I learned early on and have always stuck to happy = endgame regardless of what it is. I know someone who loves their PC front audio jack → arya and ill be damned if ima tell of someone that is happy regardless of how nuts I think they are. Now if only I could learn to not want to test the waters on every item I ever come across…

A2 with Gen 5 USB. I don’t use the USB for my critical listening so I’m not bothered by the non-Unison USB. I primarily use Pi2AES with I2S (or AES in the case of the Yggy bc it doesnt have I2S)
