One of my test tracks. The HEDD 2 does it justice but maybe plays it a little safe.

Been a lot of years since I listened to this.
This was considered one of the audiophile recordings of it’s time.
And it is a really great master.

(free history notes too, lol)

Initially found this song:

And then its original sample:

I listened to Fear Inoculum start to finish this afternoon. It was damn near a religious experience.

Yes. Tool is one of my favorite bands, and their recordings are very high quality generally.

I know that album was somewhat controversial among some Tool fans, I think it’s fantastic. :+1:
You just made me select it and hit play!

Apple Music > Yggy OG A2 Unison > Nitsch DSHA-3FN > Utopia 2020

It’s been a while since I’ve heard it. My work load was pretty mindless yesterday so I was paying more attention to music than I would usually afford it. I was blown away by the transparency of the drum recording. It sounded so damn real. It stopped me dead in my tracks a couple of times. Obviously, the music is great, but it was the recording quality and how good my chain was reproducing it that really got me.

I’ve that reaction also, and particularly the first time I heard “Reflection” on the Lateralus album. I was kind of speechless the first time hearing it, and also a wtf moment. I had to listen to it again immediately!
