Rupert Neve / Fidelice thread, RNHP / RNDAC

Wonder how it would sound with a ferrum hypos psu… that would be an interesting test (actually I bet m0n tried it)

It’s pretty good. it’s one of the few psu I actually think is a holistic upgrade over stock. Although the value isn’t really there unless you are super attached to the amp

The price for the iFi was a reaaaaaally good price.

When I get around to picking up the Fidelice skinned RNHP I’m definitely gonna spring for the Ferrum. Or maybe an LTA PSU…

My exact feelings. Small and compact enough next to a pc. And like, i feel like it does really well not needing a reclocker. Did you update your bf2 or still og? Tbh i dont even want to update mine.

It’s working very well with my HD800s too. Zero complaints.

I do find that for certain music genres the RNHP just sounds sublime. Personal favourites are electronica and classical. I also feel like it brings the best out of my Focal Elegia, something about the slight mid focus plays very well with the amp.

What could be a good reason not to sell the RNHP even if its been outclassed synergy wise by other amps, I really love the amp but I use it like once a month for 1 headphone

When this is no longer a good enough reason.

Look at it this way, it’s for the greater good to let things go and let someone else try them out and discover the amp for themselves. Everyone’s space and money situation is going to be different. For me it’s more about space than it is about money and letting something go that you love is always going to be a personal decision.

The fact that you’re even asking means you probably already know the answer.

This is truth.

I think you don’t want to sell because you love the idea of it, it is iconic and was likely an important part of your hobby trajectory. All good reasons to keep it! None of them are justifiable though beyond “keep it because I like it”.

There are no objective reasons to keep it so either sell it or decide that sentimental reasons are good enough  I don’t think any of us can give you a “sensible” reason to keep it.

I can help you. KEEP IT!
joking aside, I sold mine and still regretted it. (had A3, G111,THX789, and THX887.I don’t miss them).
What amp are you using? Unless the jump is significant, I will keep it around.

Kept

It sounds amazing with the exogal comet and I really like some pairings

Many thankyous to my audio neighbor @NickMimi for allowing me to hear two new headphones a Focal Clear and an LCD X. Both of these pair very well with the RNHP and a BF2 which is the setup I’m using for my PC. They’re quite different with the Clear OG being probably the better technical pairing but the LCD X is just more fun and for the desktop just to listen to watch YouTube crap and loud EDM in the late night work crams, the LCD-X is the one I’d want.

Try to EQ the X it can really improve it, at least the 2021 version is like that.

Yeah right, that LCD X is a fun HF, and EDM and similar modern stuff sounds really good on it. I had a chance to try it on my HPA-1 for a few songs and had no complaints. They lose value real quick, i’ve seen them go for under $850 used more than once

Years later got one back! Got one because I loved it, and want to try it with Focal clear OG.

Chain:
Laptop > Douk U2 pro > coaxial > BF2 OG > balanced > RNHP > focal clear balanced

This pairing is amazing. Is like everything fits perfectly. It sounds sweet and romantic. I cannot explain it, but I love it!

I wasn’t sold on the BF2 OG +V222+ Clear. There was something in the soundstage and imaging that was lacking. Maybe a different DAC would be a better pairing with the V222.

Past amps: Micca G2, liquid spark, thx789, A3,G111 MkI,soloist 3xp, and Thx887.
Now amps: RNHP, V222.

When it hits, it hits. They really need a higher end, but not 5k option.

RNHP is such a great amp. I miss mine as well, but I’m sure I’ll pick one up again some day.

Glad you’re enjoying it.

Seriously, I want a super version of the Neve. I was just asking Mon about the very same thing, lol!

They are new for 550$ on sweetwater or B&H.

In the future, I would like to get the Fidelice for the sake of having one!
Or maybe the RNDAC if they come back in stock! (Way out of my price range though).

Haha. That’s my same plan (Fidelice branded). I know we’re paying more for essentially the same amp, but if it’s an amp you love, then why not.
