No idea how I skimmed past this. I even checked the manual…
Plenty plenty then. I am kinda curious what their old naming convention was given the current Gen is how many hundreds of VA it outputs though

Did the P3 get a price hike? They’re at $3k now…
Looks like it, used to be about $2500 except when it was on sale.
Does the powerplant correct improper polarity/phase from the socket?
Even if it does, you should never leave something like that unrepaired, just fix it at the source. It can be dangerous depending on what’s plugged in there.
There is one socket in my house that shows reverse polarity no matter what. All the usual stuff was done to fix it but it remains stubborn.
A kind friend let me borrow his P3 regenerator so I can stop waffling on a power solution, while I audition I will not be able to run my full rig due to the power consumption ceiling and having six outlets. So I have to make a compromise on what components to prioritize:
Outlets:
This leaves me with one outlet left for the following:
If I decide to go the regenerator route, I will not have this issue as I will go for P12, or used P10.
Which of the above should occupy the sixth slot? The two DACs must be connected at all times otherwise it takes a day or so to get to optimal temp.
Appreciate any opinions, thank you.
Depending on the amps but some manufacturers recommend skipping power conditioning and plugging straight to the wall. Something worth checking out with your current gear.
If I were you, I’d plug in each one and see which one I like best, probably not the quickest answer though
Too much money to get fried during the frequent storms and power outages we get down here. Very valid point, and not opposed to it if I had whole home surge protection in place.
I thought about that too, the worry I have is ground loops, or other garbage leaking over if I connect something outside of the regenerator to my current surge/conditioner box
If the point of getting the loaner is to see if a power regenerator is beneficial for your place or not just test a chain you’re very familiar with and see if you notice something first.
If that works then I’d move on to trying the more current hungry amps as those are the ones that may prefer going to an outlet or an isolation transformer instead of to a regenerator.
So…that is part of my hoarding problem, I tend to compare amongst different amps. I understand your logic and that does make sense, why I make it more complicated than that is a mystery. Thank you.
For my Studio B i only plug it into the wall, or anywhere at all, while in use. When bad storms hit i power down and unplug everything.
Thanks Souldriver, that is a good approach for the amp, what do you with the Mojo X SE, or Anitpodes stack?
What if you are not home, at work and can’t unplug it?
I need to clarify my original question, not looking for alternates to using the P3 regenerator, as the experiment is try it out before making the plunge on the bigger siblings. The essence of what I am trying to sort out is which components should definitely be connected to it over other components.
Must have connected are the two DACs, Stratus, DSHA, and maybe the Pre-amp.
For example, could I get away with not having the Pi2AES connected to the sixth outlet on the P3 regenerator or my pre-amp (which I use solely as line switch with dual outputs) or would those cause line issues like a ground loop or other noise gremlins?
So…wow the Powerplant is Fcking amazing!!
I knew the power in my home is utter shite, high density city, condo, frequent storms and power outages, etc.
This may well be the most significant addition to my headphone system, whatever hesitation I had about spending $3-6k on a power device has been tossed down the trash chute.
Thank you to all who provided suggestions on which components to use on the six outlets, I followed a mix of all your suggestions; @orrman , @hifiDJ , @dB_Cooper , and @Souldriver
Not connected directly to PP3, but to surge protector (no filter/conditioner) was the HPA-1 and if there was any odd noise it was not audible.
I guess for those of you who have tried or owned on of these regenerator boxes this is probably not new to you, or maybe your incoming power is pretty good to start with!
I have tried a few different power conditioners/filter devices over the years, as a result I can’t stand them in my audio chain as they all seem to suck the life out of the music while not doing a great job at eliminating crap noise pollution. This has caused me to be a huge skeptic on the value of the pricey “solutions” such as the powerplant line or the AQ Niagra line of conditioners.
It is nearly 2AM and it is one of those nights where I want to stay up until the sun rises because the music is flowing just right.
Before Powerplant: Imagine you have been wearing a suit and tie all day, the temperature is close to 100 degrees and with the humidity over 70% it feels even hotter. To make matters worse, you took the metro home and you are packed in with other people like sardines in a can. You get out of the metro and walk briskly home.
After Powerplant: As soon as you shut the door you shed the work outfit and crank the AC and feel like you can finally breathe after suffocating all day.
This is legit, as is the scenario above
That’s definitely an understandable impression to get with a lot of the cheap conditioners lol, wasn’t really sold on most until I got my hands on a powerplant (and a few other conditions) as well, although they don’t suit my system now they were quite impressive in some previous setups. Would agree that a lot of the more common conditions end up doing more harm than good for what I wanted out of my systems
Wait till you try out swapping power cables
…
If you still have any isolation stuff on you, you should try it on the regen too
Not all were cheap cheap, some were just under $1k ![]()
I’m sure the higher priced conditioners are worthy, a few friends have the Puritan and would not let me take it from their dying hands ![]()
I got one very good power cable, and that is powering the Stratus as I could notice an improvement, though subtle over the other gear. In transition to upgrade the power cables on both DACs and either the DSHA-3F or BW by end of year. I won’t be able to go full Allnic like you, wish I could as they look damn good!
So iso-pucks under the power plant….I do still have the Oreo Indigo quad set under the Stratus. Basically the Stratus gets all the good stuff, it’s the main girlfriend, while everything else are a side piece ![]()
Edit: photo added for provenance ![]()
I find the power cable that goes into the regen makes a big difference too, believe it or not. I didn’t realize how much I was gimping my cables until I upgraded the one that goes into the pp3 lol. Kicked myself in the foot for waiting so long.
You know it say that in the manual?? Should have kicked your other foot too😆
In all seriousness, the nice cable I have is not long enough to reach the wall outlet, otherwise I would do it. When I get my own Powerplant, I will make sure to have a 6’ cable for it ready to go!
