Welcome!
Thanks for the welcome. I’m Martuss. I’ve been doing this for several years, and I’ve collected IEMs (maybe over 100), DAPs (maybe over 30), over-ears (maybe over 100), amps, DACs, cables, adapters, and modified and built a few.
I’m knowledgeable about acoustics because I professionally design and model acoustic systems (acoustic metamaterials and phononic crystals), and I think that’s what made me more interested in audiophiles. I came here at the invitation of a guy named Mac.
Currently, I’m about to retire from the hobby because I feel like I’m losing my hearing more and that I have nothing left to try (at least I’m not interested, since what I’m left with is what I like the most).
I’ve always been someone who tries to delve deeply into electronic engineering, audio engineering, and acoustics, but I’ve never separated this from emotions, sensations, psychoacoustics, and what my ears hear, which is what I always value most when evaluating audio equipment.
Currently, I’ve only been left with a small arsenal, about 15 over-ear headphones, 15 IEMs, 4 amps, some DACs + amps, and a lot of cables and other stuff. My favorite over-ear combos are:
- Susvara + Hugo TT2 via XLR outputs and an adapter for Susvara. (Sometimes Bliss KTE).
- LCD-2 + Hugo 2 (Sometimes I like it better with Tempotec V6).
- SR-009 + SRM-1-Mk2 + Hugo TT2.
- Sony MDR100ABN.
5.- 64 audio tia trio + Eros S 1th + SP1000cu.
But I always use my other gear from time to time. In particular, I often use a Meze Empyrean, which had both drivers replaced with new ones, and now sounds like a Meze Elite, haha. I really like this one for my beloved Metal, which isn’t very enjoyable with the others above (well, with the MDR100ABN, yes).
I have no plans to buy more headphones, IEMs, or gear, but I like reading reviews and sharing opinions. I’m also not interested in buying the IMMANIS, in case you want to ask, haha. I’ve also written many reviews in Spanish over the past 7 years in Spanish-language groups and forums, and I’ve made many videos for YouTube, etc. I also have a top list of over-ear headphones and IEMs, in case you want to read it, but I don’t think it’ll be of any use to you, haha. Well, I think I’ve said more than I should have. Thanks for accepting me, and I’ll be reading them.
(By the way, what I enjoy most lately is photographing audio equipment, so I’ll be very attentive to the photos you upload hahaha.)
A hug.
