Thank you. I’m ready to level up my current “endgame” setup up so I’ll be lurking for a while, gathering information.

What’s your current gear? A lot of us have it in our profiles here if you want to check others too

I’m still relatively early into my audio journey. I began with a JDS Atom amp and a Topping DAC, then switched to a Modi/Magni Schiit stack. Five years ago, I upgraded to a Schiit Modius and Asgard. Fast forward to today, and now I’m looking to dabble around the $500-1k range for both dac and amp. The headphones I currently use are the Sennheiser 58x, Modhouse Argon MK3, and Sundara, however, I plan to sell these within the year and get something like the Arya Organics or even that new Modhouse Tungsten. I think I’ll also get the Senn 6xx since I’m always hearing good things about it.

I’m currently thinking about the Schiit Bifrost/liquid platinum combo for my upgrade but for now, I want to see if there are better combos out there. I think I prefer the more warm/fun sound signature and the majority of the music I listen to are soundtracks/Japanese female singers. I especially love it if an amp can really make a cello pop. I guess to simplify it, which DAC/AMP/headphone combo can make these two songs shine the brightest (figuratively) in my price range?

Double welcome from me! We have a few people on here that are into the same stuff, myself included. If you ever wanna post Japanese music related stuff there’s a thread on here just for that. :grinning:

Now that you make me think of it, I believe I have never made my introductory post here, being in lurker-only mode so far

I was drawn into this forum when I was in my DAC hunting phase, found a lot of valuable information here, and I am now very pleased to join this community to keep learning more and contributing when I may.

I am a headphones-first user, adding speakers now again in my system after a long while.

Happy listening to all!

What DAC did you finally capture?

A Lampizator Horizon. Very happy with its sound!

I mean, is there anyone that’s unhappy with a Horizon? lol

I’ve not come across one in my listening but have heard the Poseidon. On your other hunt, speakers. Have you not decided on one yet? I’d say choose a speaker, then worry about the amp pairing.

I have not yet decided about speakers, it is a challenging topic and I am pretty confused at the moment about which way to go.

I’d love to use my Riviera AIC-10 for double duty (headphones and speakers), but finding high efficiency sets that are suitable for my small room (less than 25sqm) is not easy.

The most sensible direction for my room configuration would be a pair of monitors with potentially a sub, but these small boxes normally are way below 90dB efficiency, hence not the ideal load for the modest output of the AIC-10.

Voxativ makes very high quality high efficiency monitors (Hagen). You will need a sub though. There are good examples out there. Small rooms are easier to fit since they fill with sound at lower volumes and at the level you seem to be playing in, late night low volume listening becomes a very real very enjoyable thing.

Ten watts can be plenty!
