and on top of a desk
out of context, this sounds a bit dirty
Itâs been 10 grueling months since Iâve gotten the Platimon VC One Speakers. I liked the Platimon VC One enough to change my entire room layout and actually started taking speakers more seriously. Recently I got a stroke of good fortune again as I was able to score a lot of bass traps for the cheap. After cycling through my test tracks, I am very happy with the results. The recent addition of traps next to the speaker side improve the width soundstage. The ceiling traps improve clarity, so I should be good on the important reflections now. The traps behind the speaker improve imaging to where I am very satisfy with imaging now and it much easier to pinpoint most things in the music if not all. Even the width is really good too to the point where I might be happy with it. Of course I upgraded my power amp to the Orchard audio Starkrimson Ultra 2.0 and upgraded my Supratek tubes to RCA UX-245, Ray Tubes Reserve 6SN7, and KR Audio 5U4G. I even upgraded one of my interconnect cable to an Allnic cable 7R XLR from the preamp to the power amp and upgraded my DAC power cable to the ZL5000. Speaker cable is upgraded to NRG 6:6. Even though my system is pretty much the same, it does not same the same at all. It sounds like it level up completely.
To reward myself, I had to listen to one of my favorite singer of this generation and one of my favorite songs for this year Aishite Aishite Aishite cover by Ado. I really like it because itâs really weird and unique to me and I love Ado scream. I listened to this track every week since the cover album release and it was release back in December last year. First off⌠the improve soundstage width really made this track feels very open. The instruments, Ado vocals, and even her backup vocals sound like they have a good amount of space from each other, yet it doesnât sound like there is any âholeâ in the music. The music is still very filling with just added benefits. 2nd, because imaging is either pretty much where I had it when I used to toe in the Platimon when sitting closer or maybe even better, I can really hear everything without it being annoying. Nothing is really in my face, but for some reason all the sounds is more distinguishable. My favorite part of the track is 2:35 to the end of the song. Specifically 3:16 - 3:20. That part has 3 vocals, her main vocal and 2 backup vocals. I remember even with the Susvara with my old setup, it was a little hard to hear the stage left backup vocal. Every headphone I remember trying, I would have a little hard time hearing the stage left backup vocal. Like I would hear it, but not very clearly compare to the main vocal and stage right backup vocal. With where I am at with the Platimon on this current setup, I think this may be the first time I actually heard the stage left vocal very clearly lol. Not the first time hearing the stage left vocal on that part of the song, but just very clearly. I was pretty amaze hearing that part after almost a year listening to this track weekly. Idk if itâs the upgraded soundstage width or imaging, but I wanna say itâs both. I know its cliche to say omg I heard something new. It just really cool when it happens.
Since I feel pretty comfortable with my current Platimon setup, I think I want wait 2 weeks to get use to this improve system.
After the 2 weeks, I want to start comparing the different ball bearing feet I got special made for this Platimon VC One. I feel comfortable I can hear better changes with this current setup and I will probably reward myself with 2 subwoofers after Iâm done deciding which ball bearing feet I want to go with. Idk how much it will change the sound, but according to the the Mon Acoustic rep, the creator said I will be in for a surprise (Back when I emailed them in January). I got 6 different balls: a pair of pearly white; a pair of black; and a pair of some type of blue.
I didnât think I would hear a difference on the first listenâŚ
I swapped out the default stock ball bearing feet with the special ball bearing feet that was a special gift to the original owner. Jun (Owner of Mon Acoustic) sent the original owner a special gift because the 1st speaker got damage during shipping and they sent him a brand new speaker along with this special gift. And then I bought the basically brand new Platimon VC One from him and also acquired the special gift since I was getting the Platimon VC One.
There are 3 sets of special ball feet: (2) some form of white/rainbow ball placed on the back of the Platimon; (2) black ball feet place left on left speaker and right on right speaker; and (2) some kind of blue ball feet on the right of the left speaker and left of the right speaker. All the unique color ball feet is made of different material. I never got the original note with instructions and description on the ball feet âsoundâ and the original owner donât have it. So I just placed the ball feet with the picture given to me.
How it sounds? To my ears, the Platimon VC One sounds more airy and the bass sounds bigger. The changes just makes the Platimon VC One speaker sound like a bigger speaker than it was before, which I think is kinda insane. Everything else like timbre, clarity, and details sound the same for me. I made sure the volume didnât change as well. When I hit play after switching the ball feet, I was not prepared for a louder bass lol. It really shocked me that it made a pretty good difference.

I think Jun should sell these special ball feet because I like them already. But I can see this being a really hard sell and itâs probably not worth mass producing it in a financial perspective. I really didnât expect much going into this which is why I havenât touch them for almost a year. Iâm just amaze I was able to hear the difference that quickly.
