Meze thread, LIRIC / Empyrean / Elite / 99 / 109

Yup, thats a fair price ive seen many times, however the MR arent what im looking for at all, and the JOAL tuning also wasnt it

According to everything ive talked, heard and read the DZ do have that vintage abyss 1266 and old Diana TC sound im looking for, however its a tough choice since I dont know how my chain will react to it. (Both JOAL and MR tested on ferrum and schiit gear, not mine)

Ive always wanted a diana since I tried the V2’s, theres just something there for me, Id even be okay with the MRs but Id rather buy something I would actually keep

In my mind the only change on the LE were the pads and a cable it included? Along with a special color?

I dont have the D8kp, what I meant is for next year or so to look for planars that could be my “keeper” planars this is one of the options since my only planar is the LCD3pf and im planning to sell the LCD24, just like I sold the LCD5, they werent it for me

So in a distant but not extremely so future I want to be picking Elite vs DZ vs D8000pro

But things can change with time

Also the utopia OG sound insanely good on my system, just like the Elites are being inslanely good. I Actually originally built this system for Utopia OG and D8000 pro, but then came the medical bills so its been… its gonna take some time since I also collect Grado and Audio Tehnica and still owe the hospitals bills

Ah ok. I wasn’t a fan of the JOAL. I’d pick the MR over it too, even with the price difference. I didn’t think the 1266 and DZ were close. I kept the 1266 over the DZ. I got a good price for the 1266 tho.

And yeah supposedly the LEs only difference is the pads but I don’t know because I only tried those and not the other d8000s versions.

I cant drive the 1266 to a level that I like and I dont like their design either, but I really liked the diana v2 and 1266 tc when properly amped (by someone else is one of the most unique and glorious things ive heard

Thats the whole reason the DZ is in my 3 candidates, I feel like it could bring what I loved about the diana with w a little bit of 1266 magic, and also something fun to use with ported pads to just blast planar midbass like crazy

However can my pass labs or anything else (Trafomatic head 2 on the list) would really elevate the diana DZ to a level where it delivers what I intend? Its kind or an unproven territory

Its like the least safe pick, even according to your personal taste

Im sure someone gets me, probably even you, sometimes you just wanna listen to a diana, any version, thats a feeling I miss

Meanwhile elites and d8000pro be scaling like crazy on the Pass Labs confirmed to be way safer picks

If I remeber correctly, back when I tried all the D8000s versions in Munich, I asked about the differences between the Pro and the LE and the Final Audio guys told me that only the pads were different.

I honestly don’t remember them super well but if I recall correctly I preferred the Pro over the LE. IMO both were comparable and I could see some preferring the LE, wouldn’t say that one is better than the other. Between those two and the non-pro version, the difference is definitely bigger.

I really liked the V2 as well. I thought the MR took what I liked about them to the next level.

And yes, the 1266 needs some juice, not Susvara levels but a decent amount. And I totally get what you’re saying. I still want to listen to the MR at times. I’d like to try the new MRx (I think it’s called that), but would probably be satisfied with the MR, especially around $1.5k or less.
